As of Jul 13, 2026, the average hourly pay for insurance collector in Florida is $13.37, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $12.40 and $14.38 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What is the highest paying collection job?

The highest paying collection jobs are often senior or specialized roles such as collections managers or debt recovery directors, who oversee large portfolios and develop strategies. These positions typically require extensive experience, strong negotiation skills, and sometimes certifications, and they can offer salaries significantly higher than entry-level collector roles.

What is a good job to have after retirement?

An insurance collector can find post-retirement employment in roles such as part-time insurance agent, claims processor, or customer service representative, which often require strong communication skills and industry knowledge. These positions typically offer flexible schedules and may not require extensive physical activity, making them suitable for retirees seeking continued work. Certifications in insurance or related fields can enhance job prospects in this area.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Insurance Collector, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Insurance Collector, you need strong knowledge of billing procedures, insurance claim processes, and relevant regulations, often supported by a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with billing software, claims management systems, and financial databases is typically required. Excellent negotiation, persistence, and interpersonal communication skills help in resolving payment issues and negotiating settlements. These skills are crucial for maximizing collections, ensuring regulatory compliance, and maintaining positive relationships with clients and insurers.

What does an insurance collector do?

An insurance collector is responsible for recovering unpaid insurance premiums by contacting policyholders, processing payments, and maintaining accurate records. They often work with accounting systems and must have good communication skills to resolve overdue accounts efficiently.

What are some common challenges Insurance Collectors face when working with clients and how can they be addressed?

Insurance Collectors often encounter challenges such as difficulty reaching clients, handling disputes over outstanding balances, and navigating complex insurance claim details. Effective communication skills and persistence are essential for overcoming these obstacles, as is a strong understanding of insurance policies and billing procedures. Building rapport with clients and working collaboratively with claims adjusters and customer service teams can help resolve issues more efficiently and maintain positive relationships.

What jobs pay 4000 a week without a degree?

An Insurance Collector typically earns less than $4,000 weekly; high-paying jobs that can reach this level without a degree include roles such as sales managers, real estate brokers, or specialized trades like commercial pilots and certain tech positions. These roles often require experience, certifications, or skills rather than formal degrees and may involve sales, management, or technical expertise.
