Summary

Summary

Assist the Accounting/Finance department with administrative activities.  Performs duties of a highly confidential nature.  Analyzes and organizes office operations and procedures, such as typing, bookkeeping, the flow of correspondence, filing, requisition of supplies, and other clerical services.

Essential Functions

  • Supervise and manage the daily work of Staff Accountants (2-4)
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts as assigned in a timely and accurate manner to ensure financial statements are materially accurate
  • Ensures all sub ledger accounts tie to general ledger control accounts.
  • Processes cash receipts journals for approval by the Billing Manager
  • Review and approve the Journal Entries of Staff Accounts
  • Prepares journal entries to support the proper reporting of revenue and costs in the correct period in accordance with GAAP
  • Prepares more complex journal entries relating to intercompany, allocation, service center, and indirect rate transactions
  • Responsible for coordinating and executing month-end close procedures in collaboration with the Director of Accounting and Finance, ensuring timely and accurate completion of financial reporting.
  • Analyzes records of transactions to determine the accuracy and completeness of entries
  • Prepares balance sheets, profit, and loss statements, amortization and depreciation schedules, and other financial reports
  • Research transactions identified in the month-end close process that require an explanation
  • Ensure the ongoing integrity of the financial statements and research variances to ensure accuracy.
  • Ensure accuracy of fringe, overhead, and general and administrative expense reporting
  • Prepares forms and procedures for associates performing accounting and bookkeeping tasks
  • Assist staff accountants as needed in the areas of reconciliations, journal entry preparation, developing reports and other areas as needed
  • Maintain client confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential
  • Perform other duties and special projects as requested by management
  • Assist with the financial audit of the company year-end financial statements as directed by the Senior Controller

    Work Environment

    This job operates in a clerical, office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

     

    Physical Demands

    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

    This is a largely sedentary role; however, some filing is required, which would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.

     

    Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

    This is a full-time position. Typical days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

     

    Travel

    Travel is required during the business day, out-of-area and overnight travel to be expected.

    Education

    • Bachelor's degree (BS/BA) in Accounting from a four-year college or university
    • Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered
