Job description

Job Title: Metrology / Incoming Inspection Supervisor
Location: Blauvelt, NY
Employment Type: Contract, 6 months+
Opportunity to convert to direct hire
Work Model: Onsite
Hours: 7:30 am-4 pm Monday-Friday
Compensation: $50.00 - $55.00 per hour
Overview
Join this role to support a global leader in medical diagnostics and laboratory solutions with a major manufacturing and operations site in the greater Blauvelt, NY area (near the Palisades Parkway Mall). The facility plays a critical role in the production, inspection, and quality assurance of precision instruments and components used in regulated healthcare environments. This position offers the opportunity to lead a technical inspection team within a highly regulated, mission-driven manufacturing environment. Experience with Optical Gaging Products (OGP) systems for non-contact dimensional inspection a strong plus!
Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Operations
  • Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the Incoming Inspection team to ensure efficient operations and adherence to quality standards
  • Train Incoming Inspection personnel on the proper use, care, and maintenance of measurement and inspection instruments
  • Manage resources to meet departmental goals and support inspection workload and material flow

Inspection, Compliance & Quality
  • Perform inspection and monitoring of incoming materials, including packaging, chemicals, sub-assemblies, mechanical components, and electrical components, in accordance with FDA/GMP requirements and established SOPs
  • Ensure adherence to all company policies, including safety, health, Quality System Regulations (QSR), and ISO standards
  • Ensure proper calibration, maintenance, and cleanliness of all measurement equipment to maintain a safe, compliant, and organized work environment
  • Continuous Improvement & Metrics
  • Utilize 5S and continuous improvement tools to analyze operations, increase throughput, and improve inspection quality
  • Develop and maintain performance metrics, including daily and monthly goals, inspection accuracy, and productivity

Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with Materials Coordinators, MRB, Engineering, and Quality Assurance teams to support inspection processes and resolve issues
  • Partner with Quality Assurance to ensure measurement accuracy and assist in developing new inspection techniques, procedures, and standards

Requirements
Technical Expertise
  • Strong knowledge of metrology principles, measurement uncertainty, and equipment calibration
  • Thorough understanding of quality control theories, techniques, and inspection methodologies
  • Experience with quality control systems and procedures supporting incoming inspection functions

Professional Experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated knowledge across all aspects of quality inspection responsibilities

Skills & Education
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and explain complex inspection and calibration processes
  • Proficient computer skills, including software used for measurement analysis, data recording, reporting, and calibration
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or physics preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
  • Dimensional Inspection & Metrology experience: Non-contact inspection, vision measurement systems (i.e. OGP, Zeiss, Mitutoyo, Keyence), multi-sensor metrology, CMM
