What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an inside sales advisor, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Inside Sales Advisor, you need strong sales acumen, product knowledge, and excellent communication skills, often supported by a degree in business or related fields. Familiarity with customer relationship management (CRM) software, sales automation tools, and telephony systems is typically required. Resilience, active listening, and persuasive interpersonal skills help you build rapport and effectively address client needs. These abilities are crucial for consistently meeting sales targets, fostering customer loyalty, and contributing to overall business growth.

What is an inside sales advisor?

Inside Sales Advisors are sales professionals who primarily conduct sales activities remotely, typically via phone, email, or video conferencing, rather than meeting clients in person. They are responsible for identifying potential customers, understanding their needs, presenting products or services, and closing sales. Inside Sales Advisors often work closely with marketing and outside sales teams to nurture leads and build long-term customer relationships. Their goal is to drive revenue growth and provide excellent customer service from within the company’s office or remotely.

How does an inside sales advisor typically collaborate with other departments to close deals?

Inside Sales Advisors frequently work closely with marketing, customer service, and product teams to ensure a smooth sales process. They coordinate with marketing to align outreach strategies, share customer feedback with product teams to address client needs, and partner with customer service to guarantee post-sale satisfaction. This cross-functional collaboration not only helps address customer concerns swiftly but also contributes to higher conversion rates and customer retention. Regular communication and team meetings are common to keep everyone on the same page.

Head of Inside Sales

C1 Insurance Group

Dallas, TX • On-site

Full-time

Job description

Build One of the Best Inside Sales Organizations in Independent Insurance
Most insurance agencies treat inside sales as a support function. We don't.
At C1 Insurance Group, we believe inside sales will become one of our greatest competitive advantages. We're building a high-performing, data-driven sales organization that delivers an exceptional customer experience while helping more families protect what matters most.
We're looking for a leader who wants to build-not simply manage.
You'll inherit a growing team of Inside Sales Advisors, but your mission goes well beyond supervising people. You'll help design the systems, coaching, hiring, accountability, technology, and culture that define how we scale over the coming years.
Insurance experience is helpful, but it isn't the deciding factor. We'd much rather hire an exceptional sales leader who knows how to build great teams and coach people to consistently exceed expectations.
If you've built high-performing inside sales teams in mortgage, SaaS, financial services, home services, retail, recruiting, or another metrics-driven sales environment, we'd love to talk.
What You'll Own and Do
As Head of Inside Sales, you'll be responsible for the overall performance and development of our inside sales organization.
Lead and Coach
    • Lead daily sales huddles and weekly coaching sessions
    • Conduct live and recorded call reviews
    • Coach discovery, objection handling, consultative selling, and closing skills
    • Develop individualized coaching plans for every advisor
    • Hold high performers accountable while helping struggling reps improve

Manage Performance
    • Monitor activity, conversion, and pipeline metrics
    • Forecast production and identify trends
    • Ensure CRM accuracy and reporting discipline
    • Address performance issues quickly and professionally
    • Celebrate wins while maintaining high expectations

Build the Team
    • Work with our Talent Acquisition team to hire exceptional sales talent
    • Lead onboarding and ongoing development
    • Create future team leaders from within the organization
    • Build a culture people want to be part of

Improve the Business
    • Improve sales processes and operating rhythms
    • Identify friction that slows advisors down
    • Use data to improve conversion rates and productivity
    • Partner with Operations, Marketing, Technology, and our AI team to improve workflows and automations
    • Build scalable playbooks that allow the organization to continue growing

You'll Thrive Here If You
  • Get energized by coaching people to achieve things they didn't think possible
  • Naturally notice broken processes and improve them
  • Hold people accountable while earning their trust
  • Make decisions using data instead of assumptions
  • Believe culture and performance go hand in hand
  • Enjoy working in a fast-moving, growing business

Requirements
  • 5+ years of successful sales experience
  • 2+ years leading, coaching, or developing inside sales teams
  • Demonstrated success improving team performance through coaching and accountability
  • Experience hiring, onboarding, and developing salespeople
  • Strong understanding of pipeline management and CRM best practices
  • Experience managing through metrics and KPIs
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-growing, evolving organization
  • Ability to work full-time in our Dallas office

Insurance experience is a plus-but not required.
Benefits
We're not trying to become a typical insurance agency. We're investing heavily in technology, AI, automation, and customer experience while building a high-performance culture centered around coaching, accountability, and continuous improvement.
We have a sister B2C business that already generates thousands of monthly leads, and a growing list of prospective partners, that will result in tremendous opportunities to sell insurance. We haven't even scratched the surface of the potential for inside sales.
You'll work closely with executive and sales leadership and have the opportunity to shape one of the most important functions in our company.
If you're looking for a role where all the systems are already built, this isn't it.
If you're excited by building great teams, developing people, improving processes, and creating an inside sales organization that others aspire to emulate, we'd love to meet you.
