Custom Engineering Co. is a premier single source supplier specializing in the manufacturing of large-scale metal fabrications. We are currently seeking 1st and 2nd shift  Full-time Machine Operator with experience in the steel industry to join our team at our Erie, PA location. The position offers an hourly rate of up to $22.00 BOE ($2.00 2nd shift differential) and the benefits shown below. MACHINE OPERATOR RESPONSIBILITIES: (Included, but not limited to)

  • Set up and remove work pieces from a machine per procedure
  • Proficiently use measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, dial indicators and gauges to ensure conformance of specified tolerances
  • Ability to perform in-process inspections at a machine and adjust various offsets to ensure conformance of workpieces as required
  • Position and secure workpieces on machines using measuring instruments, holding devices, hand tools, and cranes
  • Study blueprints, lay outs, sketches, and work orders to determine tolerances and work procedures
  • Ability to recognize tooling types -- facemill, drill, taps, etc.
Requirements:
  • Knowledge of addition, subtraction, fractions, decimals and calculate tooling speeds/feeds
  • Prior machining experience
  • Knowledge in general machining practices
  • Crane and forklift experience
  • Ability to read and understand documents and blueprints
  • Ability to use hand tools (calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, tape measure, etc.)
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds to insert tooling, materials, and use lifting devices
