Job Title: Machine Operator

Pay Rate: $19/hr.

Job Summary

Machine Operator to run and maintain a high-speed converting line that manufactures premium drawstring trash bags


Duties/Responsibilities:

• Set up, operate, and monitor high-speed converting equipment including unwinders, folders, sealers, perforators, drawstring insertion stations, , and automated packaging systems

• Perform frequent quality checks on bag dimensions, seal strength, drawstring placement, perforation quality, print registration, and overall bag integrity

• Load parent rolls (up to 2,000+ lbs) using roll carts, or powered lift equipment

• Thread film through the machine, adjust tensions, align drawstrings, and ensure proper folding/sealing parameters

• Troubleshoot and resolve common machine faults, film breaks, drawstring jams, sealing issues, and timing problems

• Conduct preventive maintenance and basic repairs (change seals, blades, perforator knives, belts, etc.

• Accurately record production data, downtime, scrap rates, and material usage in the plant’s ERP/HMI system

• Maintain a clean and organized work area following 5S and safety standards

• Assist with roll changes, product changeovers, new SKUs, and line clearances

• Work closely with Quality Technicians, Maintenance Mechanics, and Material Handlers to maximize line efficiency and OEE


Required Skills/Abilities:

• High school diploma or GED required

• 2+ years of experience operating high-speed converting, flexographic printing, bag-making, or similar automated packaging equipment strongly preferred

• Proven mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills

• Ability to read and interpret production schedules, spec sheets, and basic blueprints

• Comfortable working with HMI touchscreens and computerized controls

• Basic math skills and attention to detail (critical for quality inspections)

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs repeatedly and stand for entire 12-hour shift

• Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and rotating shifts

• Forklift / overhead crane certification is a plus


Education and Experience:

• High School diploma or GED required, formal technical training or certifications in maintenance or mechanics highly preferred.

• Minimum 5+ years of experience in maintenance, preferably within blown film extrusion or

related plastic manufacturing environments.
