ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION

The Muskegon Lakeshore Chamber of Commerce is the premier business membership organization on the Lakeshore representing approximately 1,100 businesses and organizations. The Muskegon Chamber represents businesses of every size and type all over West Michigan. The Chamber is celebrating more than 125 years in operation working to sustain an environment for business success through community leadership, promotion, inclusive business advocacy and valued member services. The Muskegon Chamber is a four-time award winning Chamber, being named Chamber of the Year for the State of Michigan in 2006, 2010, 2012 and 2015 by the Michigan Association of Chamber Professionals.

Marketing Intern


JOB DESCRIPTION

The Marketing Intern will support the Muskegon Lakeshore Chamber of Commerce by assisting in the creation of digital and visual content across a variety of platforms. This intern will work closely with the Director of Marketing to produce compelling graphic design, video, and web content that enhances the Chamber’s brand, communicates its mission, and promotes business engagement. The position integrates key elements of technology and the arts, offering hands-on experience in design software, multimedia production, web development, and digital marketing.


COMPENSATION

$15/Hr (15-20 hrs/wk)



ACADEMIC CREDIT & TIME COMMITMENT

This is a part-time internship and can be completed for academic credit. If the intern wishes to receive academic credit for the internship, it will be the intern’s responsibility to make arrangements with their school. The Muskegon Lakeshore Chamber of Commerce will provide a job description and performance evaluation upon request. Hours are 15-20 hours per week, with flexibility based on availability and academic requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO…

Digital Design & Creative Content:

  • Design original graphics for print and digital use, including infographics, brochures, advertisements, and social media visuals
  • Create engaging multimedia content such as motion graphics, short videos, and animated stories using Adobe Creative Suite and Canva
  • Assist in the development of brand assets and templates for internal and external communications


Photography and Videography:

  • Capture event and community photography that highlights Chamber programs and members
  • Create and edit short form video content for social media and event promotion
  • Support marketing efforts with visual content aligned to Chamber branding


Website & Technology Support:

  • Assist in updating and maintaining the Chamber’s website using WordPress
  • Help manage the online event calendar and create digital listings
  • Collaborate on improvements to the user experience and visual layout of the site


Social Media & Digital Strategy:

  • Develop creative visual assets for use on Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and more
  • Support strategic digital campaigns by analyzing audience engagement and trends
  • Ensure branding consistency across all platforms


Innovation & Exploration:

  • Explore emerging tools and technologies in digital design, video, and web
  • Suggest fresh ideas and techniques to enhance the Chamber’s digital storytelling
  • Participate in creative brainstorming for new visual campaigns or outreach methods


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Junior or senior level student in marketing, communications, graphic design, advertising, public relations, or related field.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with strong skills in Adobe Creative Suite (inDesign, Illustrator, Lightroom), WordPress, and Canva.
  • Experience in social media management, graphic design, and photography is highly encouraged.
  • Knowledge of video editing and website management is a plus.
