JOB SUMMARY AND PURPOSE

The People Relations Partner Associate I will assists the People Relations team provide the support necessary to maintain daily employee relations needs as well as employee relations project support as VOALA continues its growth. This is a hands-on position that will be primarily involved in front-line interaction with program managers and staff in communications, coaching and relationship building. This is an individual contributor role.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Interacting with employees and managers in assigned programs to assist with questions and policy clarification; makes on-site visits to program sites to provide face-to-face HR availability to employees in the work environment
  • Manage the People Relations (Employee Relations) point of access for communication of complaints and/or grievances triaging the cases and assigning CaseIQ cases to appropriate PRP.
  • Conducting workplace interviews and address employee concerns; serve as a liaison between program staff and the HR department
  • Assist with compliance and program audits
  • Support the employee relations team with investigations, written warnings, and documentation
  • Is a resource for HR Service team
  • Duties as assigned

ESSENTIAL ABILITY ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

Ability to work and deal with difficult, uncooperative, and potentially aggressive clients as VOALA serves the neediest of the needy in our programs, which may include clients with homelessness, mental illness, substance abuse, recently released from incarceration, and other challenges.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • An essential function of this position requires incumbents to report to the office.
  • Provide employee relations support for assigned programs, answer questions, clarify policy, make on-site visits to provide support in the workplace.
  • Perform workplace interviews and address employee concerns; serve as a liaison between program staff and the HR department.
  • Ensure all cases are up to date and complete at all times, to ensure timely and
  • complete case management and ccase closure, using effective time
  • management. Ensure all documentation is organized and thorough.
  • Assist compliance and program audits
  • Maintain all points of access for complaints and grievance submission to the
  • PRPs, triaging these incoming cases, escalating as necessary, and assigning the
  • cases to the appropriate PRP for follow up.
  • Provide administrative support to the Director and Executive Director ensuring
  • projects and tasks assigned are completed timely and accurately.
  • Other duties as required and is subject to change at any time.

MANDATED REPORTER

As service providers to the underprivileged and vulnerable in our community, all employees are considered Mandated Reporters, and must report any instance of physical or sexual abuse to proper authorities.

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to pass a fingerprint clearance, background check, including criminal history, personal references, employment and education verifications
  • Valid California driver license and access to dependable transportation with adequate insurance
  • Ability to perform under circumstances of possible emotional stress and conflicts dealing with difficult, uncooperative, and potentially aggressive clients as VOALA serves the neediest of the needy in our programs which may include clients with homelessness, mental-illness, substance abuse, recently released from incarceration and other challenges.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience (4 years of relevant experience / coursework)

EXPERIENCE:

  • 2 years of general HR experience
  • Six months of familiarity with handling employee grievance and complaints.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • PHR or SHRM-CP
  • Professional level human resources experience in large complex organizations
  • Familiar with UltiPro HRIS (UKG and WFM) and ClearCompany ATS
  • Bilingual (Spanish)
