Job description

Join our team as a detail-oriented Indirect Underwriter at IHMVCU! We are committed to providing exceptional financial services to our members and community. We believe in fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment where every team member can thrive.
This role is located at our beautiful headquarters on River Drive in Moline, IL. Our facility includes a comfortable office environment with an on-site gym facility.
Summary of Position:
As an Indirect Underwriter, you will play a crucial role in evaluating and approving loan applications originating from our indirect lending partners. Loan requests will be analyzed with sound underwriting decisions and counteroffers will be made within established underwriting guidelines. Your expertise will help us maintain our commitment to responsible lending while ensuring a seamless experience for our members and dealer relationships.
The successful candidate should have the following skills/qualifications:
  • High School diploma or equivalent, some college preferred.
  • 2+ years of prior experience in indirect lending and underwriting.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with members, colleagues, and external partners.
  • Critical thinking skills and ability to act independently within guidelines.
  • Reliable, motivated, and strong organizational skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify any discrepancies and ensure accuracy in all documentation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Receive, validate and review loan applications through indirect loan origination system.
  • Analyzes the loan application and accompanying documentation to evaluate risk and make appropriate decisions within authorized lending limits, asking additional questions when applicable.
  • Ensures compliance within laws, policies and regulations set forth by government, state or the Credit Union are followed at all times.
  • Exercises good judgment and decision-making skills using a methodical approach. Utilizes resources to research unfamiliar underwriting situations and is able to present complex scenarios concisely and with comprehensive options/solutions to leadership.
  • Maintains professional working relationships with members, team members and dealers.
  • Continually strive to improve underwriting and decision efficiency that improves response time without jeopardizing the integrity of the decision.
