Inbound Supervisor

Position Overview

AST SpaceMobile is seeking an experienced and highly organized Inbound Supervisor to oversee daily receiving, material handling, inventory intake, and warehouse operations. This position will be responsible for supervising inbound logistics activities, coordinating receiving personnel, ensuring discrepancy resolution in a timely manner, and supporting the efficient flow of materials into production and warehouse operations.

The Inbound Supervisor will play a critical role in ensuring timely receipt, inspection, processing, and put away staging of incoming materials while maintaining compliance with company procedures, quality standards, and safety requirements. This leader will drive operational efficiency, discrepancy resolution, and continuous improvement initiatives within the receiving and inbound logistics functions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily inbound warehouse and receiving operations to ensure timely and accurate processing of incoming materials.
  • Lead receiving personnel, material handlers, and warehouse associates to support operational objectives and production requirements.
  • Coordinate receipt, verification, inspection, and system transactions for incoming raw materials, components, assemblies, and production-critical hardware.
  • Ensure accurate documentation and inventory system updates for all inbound shipments.
  • Monitor dock scheduling, unloading activities, and material movement to maximize receiving efficiency and warehouse throughput.
  • Prioritize critical and production-impacting shipments through established hot-list and expedited receiving processes.
  • Investigate and resolve receiving discrepancies, damaged shipments, quantity variances, and documentation issues.
  • Partner with Supply Chain, Procurement, Quality, Manufacturing, Production, and Engineering teams to support material availability requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with inventory control procedures and maintain accurate inventory transactions within ERP, MRP, and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
  • Support cycle count activities, inventory audits, and inventory reconciliation efforts.
  • Monitor inbound performance metrics including receiving accuracy, dock-to-stock cycle time, receiving backlog, and inventory discrepancies.
  • Identify and implement process improvements that increase efficiency, reduce delays, and improve inventory accuracy.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on warehouse efficiency, material flow optimization, and reduction of process bottlenecks.
  • Maintain safe warehouse operations by enforcing safety policies, material handling procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Train, coach, and develop inbound team members on receiving processes, inventory control procedures, safety standards, and company policies.
  • Coordinate cross-functional communication regarding shipment priorities, material shortages, and receiving schedules.
  • Support scrap handling, material segregation, and recycling initiatives in accordance with company procedures.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and relevant operational leadership experience may be considered.

Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in warehouse operations, supply chain management, logistics, or manufacturing operations.
  • 3+ years of leadership experience managing warehouse, receiving, or distribution teams.
  • Experience overseeing multi-site warehouse or distribution center operations strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience managing inbound receiving operations in manufacturing or industrial environments.
  • Experience implementing scrap control, waste management, or recycling process improvements.
  • Strong background in inventory management systems and warehouse process optimization.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working within aerospace, satellite manufacturing, electronics, automotive, defense, or advanced manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of inventory management principles, receiving best practices, and warehouse operations.
  • Experience supporting lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, or process optimization initiatives.
  • Familiarity with quality inspection processes, non-conforming material procedures, and production support operations.
  • Forklift certification and material handling equipment experience preferred.
