Job description

The Inbound Team Lead contributes to meeting Langham goals of exceptional customer service, quality, process improvement, and profitability by ensuring that all inbound associates unload shipments from the client coming into the warehouse without damage; accurately checked, recorded, and entered into the database; and put away into the correct location. The Lead is a direct link between the associates and the supervisor, distributing daily work orders, ensuring orders are correctly completed and recorded, and ensuring that shipments get out according to schedule.

The Lead ensures productivity and quality goals are met on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis; maximizing productivity and efficiency through the use of RF guns and cross training. This position will assist/lead training new starts within their department and cross train veterans in other functions; and is charged with planning for adequate manpower to meet daily schedules and appropriately matching associate skills with duties of the job.

The Lead delegates investigation of problems such as receiving and put away errors, initiate

collaboration with client’s IT team for uncontrollable scenarios, and communicate across departments

to reach resolution.

The Lead also ensures that all work is done according to safety and security guidelines, with particular attention to guidelines regarding hazardous materials and those mandated by the Department of Homeland Security.

Key Outcomes Expected

All Warehouse Associates, regardless of assigned area or duties, are expected to:

  • Operate all equipment, machinery, forklifts, etc., in an efficient, safe, and productive manner;
  • Work according to customer orders and specifications;
  • Meet established quality and productivity metrics;
  • Make daily checks and provide basic maintenance on machines as assigned;
  • Keep work areas neat and clean.
  • Communicate with the customer to take care of inaccuracies in shipments.
  • Ensure inventory accuracy by entering material into data base, ideally, via the use of an RF gun.
  • Use mobile computer station for daily inbound tasks
  • Put inventory away in correct location without damaging product or equipment.
  • Provides direct assistance to the Supervisor by helping assign workloads and expedite workflow
  • Ensure quality checks are made at the appropriate stages of inbound and put away
  • Effectively perform basic lead responsibilities of coaching, training, performance.
  • Ensure a team environment in the warehouse; cross train all employees in the department.
  • Identify and make arrangements for appropriate manpower needs on a daily basis and get approval from the Supervisor to issue overtime requirements as needed.
  • Prepare daily work schedules and issue written and oral instructions, ensuring that orders (pick tickets) are distributed in a timely manner.
  • Assign daily tasks as appropriate based on individual team member skills (i.e. picking, driving, banding, QC, cycle counts, receiving, put away, etc.).
  • Maximize efficiency through the use of RF guns in all areas (where appropriate)
  • Assist employees with work process problems
  • Monitor warehouse associates’ productivity and make adjustments as needed.

Physical demands and Work Environment

  • Must be able to operate a variety of equipment: stand up forklift, sit down forklift, and order picker.
  • Physical movements including bending, stooping, and lifting up to 50 pounds as part of daily work routine.
  • Must be able to operate computer equipment.
  • Work is performed in a warehouse environment subject to temperature variances that include occasional function in a cold environment.
