Job description

Role: Packaging Engineer
Location: Washington, PA

We are seeking an experienced Packaging Engineer with strong blister packaging expertise to support packaging development, validation, and sustaining engineering activities within a regulated manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead packaging development for new product launches, reformulations, sustaining engineering, and packaging improvements.
  • Support primary packaging (blister packs, bottles, films, foils, plastics) and secondary packaging (cartons, labels, inserts).
  • Develop packaging specifications, technical documentation, and artwork coordination.
  • Perform packaging validation and qualification activities including User Requirement Specifications, Installation Qualification, and Operational Qualification.
  • Troubleshoot packaging and manufacturing issues, perform root cause analysis, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Research & Development, Manufacturing, Quality, Regulatory, Procurement, and external suppliers.
  • Support sustainability initiatives and packaging optimization projects.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related Engineering field.
  • Experience in packaging engineering, packaging development, testing, or manufacturing support within pharmaceutical, consumer healthcare, medical device, or consumer packaged goods industries.
  • Strong expertise in blister packaging, thermoforming, heat sealing, cold-form films, foils, plastics, and blister tooling.
  • Knowledge of package integrity, moisture barrier protection, product stability, and shelf appeal.
  • Experience with packaging validation, qualification documentation, and regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Strong technical writing, communication, project management, data analysis, and problem-solving skills.
