We are seeking a dedicated Export Compliance Officer to join our team in Alexandria, VA, Toano, VA, or Johnstown, PA. In this critical role, you will ensure that all international trade activities and regulatory obligations are met, safeguarding our operations and supporting our mission to deliver world-class defense technology responsibly.

As the Export Compliance Officer, you will serve as the trusted guardian of KDA Inc.’s compliance framework; overseeing export controls, monitoring trade regulations, and partnering with internal teams to maintain adherence to U.S. and international laws. Your expertise will directly contribute to protecting our business, strengthening our global partnerships, and enabling us to operate with excellence in a highly regulated industry.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Draft export license applications to the Department of State (DDTC)
  • Draft Technical Assistance Agreements (TAAs) and Warehouse Distribution Agreements (WDAs) to DDTC.
  • Assist in submission of General Correspondences for re-export authorization to DDTC.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
  • Maintain Federal Firearms License (FFL) and armory records.*
  • Provide oversight of FFL and armory operations for the location*
  • Track status of all export authorizations from initial internal request to governmental approval.
  • Maintain records of all international shipments.
  • Maintain records tracking the use of all export authorizations and exemptions.
  • Prepare End User Certificates (EUCs), Delivery Verification Certificates (DVCs), and International Import Certificates (IICs).
  • Coordinate activities with freight forwarders and customs brokers.
  • Investigate and report potential policy violation to the Compliance Supervisor
  • Investigate and conduct audits and document reviews as directed under Compliance Supervisors oversight. 
  • Monitor site compliance under the Compliance Supervisor’s oversight.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree.

NUMBER OF YEARS AND TYPE OF EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • 3+ years working knowledge of ITAR, Commerce and Import/Export Operations.
  • Bureau of Alcohol Tabacco and Firearms regulations and/ or Department of War Arms Ammunition and Explosives (AA&E) experience highly desired.

MINIMUM LEARNING TIME FOR THIS POSITION PROVIDED EMPLOYEE HAS NECESSARY EXPERIENCE:

  • 1 year

OTHER POSITION CONSIDERATIONS:

  • Proficient in MS Word, MS Excel, and PowerPoint. Familiar with MS Teams.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • ~5%; seminars, training, and to include international travel to Norwegian headquarters.
