Description:

The Import Export Specialist at Hyper Solutions plays a key role in managing and coordinating international import and export operations that support the company’s global supply chain. This position is responsible for ensuring raw materials, components, and finished goods move efficiently across international borders while maintaining compliance with U.S. and international trade regulations.


Working closely with Purchasing, Manufacturing, Warehouse Operations, Sales, Service, and Finance, the Import Export Specialist serves as Hyper’s subject matter expert for global trade compliance, customs regulations, and international logistics. This role helps optimize transportation costs, minimize compliance risks, and support uninterrupted supply chain operations across Hyper’s manufacturing network.


This position is well-suited for a highly organized logistics professional who enjoys solving complex international shipping challenges while ensuring regulatory compliance and supporting business growth.


Core Responsibilities

  • Coordinate domestic and international shipments via air, ocean, truck, rail, and courier services
  • Manage inbound and outbound international freight to ensure timely delivery and regulatory compliance
  • Coordinate with customs brokers, freight forwarders, carriers, and third-party logistics providers
  • Resolve shipping delays, customs holds, damaged shipments, and transportation issues
  • Prepare, review, and maintain import and export documentation
  • Verify Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) classifications, country of origin determinations, duties, tariffs, and customs fees
  • Support duty savings initiatives and free trade agreement utilization, including USMCA where applicable
  • Ensure compliance with U.S. Customs, Export Administration Regulations (EAR), Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS), and other international trade regulations
  • Screen customers, suppliers, and shipments against denied party lists and coordinate export licensing requirements when applicable
  • Maintain complete and accurate shipping, customs, and import and export records

Additional Responsibilities

  • Conduct internal compliance reviews and support import and export audits
  • Develop and maintain import and export procedures, policies, and trade compliance documentation
  • Generate reports related to transportation costs, customs activity, shipping performance, and trade compliance
  • Partner with Purchasing, Production, Warehouse Operations, Customer Service, and Finance to coordinate international shipments
  • Identify opportunities to reduce freight costs, improve transit times, and optimize shipping processes
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and standardization of global logistics processes
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, International Business, Business Administration, or a related field preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in import and export operations within a manufacturing or distribution environment
  • Experience coordinating international shipments across multiple countries
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations and international trade compliance requirements
  • Experience working with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and international carriers
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Experience using ERP systems and transportation or trade compliance software

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience within electrical manufacturing, industrial distribution, or engineered products
  • Knowledge of electrical components and international sourcing
  • Experience working with global suppliers and contract manufacturers
  • Licensed Customs Broker (LCB), Certified Customs Specialist (CCS), Certified Export Specialist (CES), or similar certification
  • Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma experience
  • Knowledge of HTS classifications, country of origin determination, Incoterms® 2020, customs brokerage processes, duty and tariff calculations, and export compliance regulations
  • Experience with ERP platforms such as NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or Epicor
  • Familiarity with Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and trade compliance software

Compensation

The anticipated minimum hiring range for this role is $85,000 - $110,000 per year. Actual salary varies due to factors that may include but not limited to relevant experience, skills, certifications and location. This hire will be eligible for discretionary bonus or incentive compensation. Variable compensation may depend on various factors, such as individual and organizational performance.
