Job Description

The Senior Implementation Design Lead (SIDL) is a senior technical position responsible for supporting multiple complex projects and new business pursuits concurrently. The SIDL serves as a subject matter expert and provides overall technical oversight for standards and systems implementation, working closely with internal and external cross-functional teams. This includes conducting system assessments, defining requirements, leading design, configuration, development activities, troubleshooting complex technical issues, and providing guidance on system enhancements and optimizations.

In addition to implementation activities, the SIDL actively participates in defining and providing training and knowledge sharing, ensuring that the broader IT team and operational staff are well-versed in the technical functionality and capabilities of the implemented systems. The SIDL also collaborates with executive leadership teams to plan and execute strategic projects aimed at improving operational efficiencies, optimizing processes, and enhancing the overall performance of the company's operations.


Responsibilities


Solution Design and Architecture:

  • Lead the strategic planning and design of WMS solutions with the implementation team, considering business requirements, scalability, performance, and integration with other systems.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders and IT teams to understand and translate complex business needs into comprehensive WMS system designs.
  • Develop solution architectures, including system configurations, data models, workflows, and integration points, to support end-to-end WMS processes.


Implementation Management:

  • Oversee the end-to-end implementation process, from design, system setup and configuration to testing, and deployment of WMS solutions.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to the implementation team, ensuring adherence to design principles, coding standards, and project requirements.
  • Acts as project leader on internal team initiatives.
  • Applies IT and internal team methodologies to ensure implementations are delivered in a consistent, standard, and repeatable method.


Stakeholder Engagement and Management:

  • Engage with business stakeholders, including senior leaders, to understand their strategic objectives and align WMS implementations accordingly.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to stakeholders, providing expert guidance on WMS solutions, industry trends, and emerging technologies.


Project Delivery:

  • Design and development of new solutions and strategies and facilitates and supports business acceptance testing process with customers, analysts and project leaders for custom and package application projects.
  • Applies advanced level industry specific knowledge to deliver solutions. Provides specialty technical knowledge of one or more in-house or third-party applications.
  • Understands current work processes, supporting the Integration Design, Supplier Input Process Output Customers (SIPOC), System Integration Testing (SIT), User Acceptance Testing (UAT), Day In the Life Of (DILO) sessions and facilitates technical documentation of systems.


Documentation:

  • Develop, train and maintain technical documentation in support of specified applications to ensure the delivery of standardized solution.
  • Collaborates across all Business Units to ensure a consistent delivery standard.


Continuous Improvement and Innovation:

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the functionality, usability, and efficiency of WMS solutions.
  • Identify opportunities for innovation and recommend technology advancements or process improvements to optimize WMS performance and support business growth.
  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of implementation methodologies, best practices, and standardized documentation.


Required Education and Experience


  • Bachelor's degree in IT similar field or 7+ years experience in an IT environment with a technical design background, required
  • Experience in the implementation and support of business systems, required
  • Considerable knowledge of logistics and supply chain marketplace, required
  • Thorough knowledge of service functions, including deep and broad understanding or experience of a service function inside the context of a business unit
  • Good verbal communication skills - ability to clearly present information through the spoken word; influence or persuade others through oral presentations in positive or negative circumstances; listens well.
  • Good written communication skills - ability to write clearly and effectively present ideas and to document activities; to read and interpret written information
