Job description

Position Purpose

Incumbent’s main function is an Imaging Tech Aide. They also hold responsibilities as supply aide, and clerk. Under general supervision of the Modality Supervisor, the direction of the Lead modality technologist, and modality Technologist this position is responsible for preparing patients for testing and for providing general assistance to the radiology team, documenting in EPIC for patient care, arranging appointments and transport for in-patients to arrive into Imaging for their exams, and the restocking of the imaging rooms and storerooms, as required and needed.

Nature and Scope

As a member of the Imaging team, the Imaging Tech Aide provides technical skills and communicates effectively with supervisors, other ED staff, physicians, RNs, in-patient customers, Patients and families.
When functioning as an Imaging Tech Aide they will be asked to perform various technical procedures and is responsible for assisting the Imaging staff in providing appropriate, timely, quality patient care. This includes, but is not limited to preparing patients for testing, understanding contraindications,  transporting patients when necessary both in-house and ER patients, Quality Control, documenting in EPIC and checking for lab values, identifying lines, drains airways and their placements, properly handling and stocking of non-controlled medications.  This incumbent will assist in expediting ER/Trauma, stroke, and in-patients to the imaging modality and transferring patients to the exam table.
Other duties may include a combination of the following may include stocking the exam rooms, ordering supplies, equipment and instrumentation to ensure safe, effective patient care. Maintain and manage incoming phone calls, coordinate patient schedules and activities, efficiently use the computers, telephones, beepers, and maintain an orderly and efficient work area in all exam areas. The incumbent may perform twelve-lead EKG’s (400253 ONLY). Incumbent will interface with all patients, guests, visitors, families and patients arriving or calling the Imaging Dept. The incumbent provides directions and information as well as making appropriate referrals.
The incumbent must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care based on physical, motor/sensory, psychosocial, and safety appropriate to the age of the patient served and meets standards of quality as measured by the unit/department age specific competency standards.
The major challenge of this position is to maintain a caring and supportive attitude during stressful situations and to communicate effectively with physicians and nursing personnel in order to make good decisions regarding Renown patients. Demonstrates knowledge of Critical Care protocol/guidelines (Stroke, Code Aorta, Trauma, PE, etc.) including assisting with getting patients prepared for all Radiology exams.
 
This position does provide patient care.

Current BLS certification by American Heart Association standards required upon hire.

Must possess, or be able to obtain within 90 days, the computers skills necessary to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.
