We are searching for a People Compliance Lead to join the People Operations & Systems team. As our first dedicated owner for People Compliance, you will design, operationalize and continuously improve the programs, controls, and policies that keep ezCater's workforce management compliant, and audit-ready. Reporting to the Senior Manager of People Operations & Systems, you'll partner closely with stakeholders across People, Legal, IT & Security, among other cross-functional teams. You will have primary responsibility for proactively identifying risks, monitoring changes in People best-practices and regulatory requirements across the country, and prioritizing initiatives to ensure ezCater remains compliant.
You'll be the connector between policy and practice, helping us stay ahead of emerging requirements and current best practices while enabling a great employee experience. This is a high-impact role that will shape the future of our People programs as ezCater grows and matures.
What You'll Do:
- Develop and maintain a People Compliance roadmap across areas like onboarding and I9/EVerify, pay transparency, policy attestations and training, ensuring initiatives are executed on time and with high quality.
- Support preparation and submission of federal employment reports and required workforce filings in collaboration with People Team stakeholders.
- Monitor federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, partnering with Legal and functional leaders to evolve our programs and policies accordingly. This includes the ongoing maintenance of our Employee Handbook and associated documentation.
- Build and maintain SOPs and documentation that translate compliance requirements into simple, repeatable steps and a consistent, streamlined employee experience.
- Establish and maintain a central repository for people-related policies, SOPs, and employee-facing documentation, including our Employee Handbook, workplace notices, and code of conduct.
- Define and track attestations and acknowledgements (who needs to sign what, when, and how we evidence that it happened), and maintain archival records.
- Ensure core people systems (HRIS, ATS, compensation, performance & engagement, benefits, and learning) are configured in alignment with policy and compliance requirements, especially around record management and documentation.
- Partner with HRIS, People Analytics, and IT/Security to define and monitor controls related to data and user access, data quality, retention, and audit logs for employee data.
- Design, execute, and maintain an auditing cadence across people systems; identify gaps and risks; and own report findings and remediation plans in partnership with People and Legal stakeholders.
- Serve as a first-line escalation point for People-related compliance issues and investigations, coordinating with Legal and other stakeholders as needed.
- Partner with Legal, Security, and Procurement on due diligence and ongoing monitoring of People-related vendors, ensuring appropriate contractual protections, data processing agreements, and certifications are documented and accessible for audits and customer inquiries.
What You Have:
- 6+ years experience in a people compliance function at a high-growth tech company.
- Strong proficiency of U.S. employment laws and regulatory frameworks, including statutory compliance best practices related to PTO, FMLA, ADA, HIPAA, FLSA, and EEO and demonstrated comfort monitoring change and exercising accurate judgment as to when to partner with or seek clarification from legal.
- Track record of designing and conducting audits, reporting on findings and developing actionable recommendations.
- Familiarity with HRIS, ATS and other people related platforms across compensation, payroll, benefits, learning, and performance & engagement. Experience with UKG Pro, UKG Ready and Greenhouse is ideal.
- Demonstrated ability to translate regulatory and policy requirements into scalable processes and documentation that non-experts can follow. You can explain complex topics simply and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- A strategic mindset coupled with a desire to get into the details and execute.
- Strong attention to detail, an entrepreneurial mindset, and a bias toward action. You thrive in an environment with shifting priorities and, at times, ambiguity.
- Sharp analytical skills with a proven ability to interpret compliance data, spot trends and identify risks and implement actionable improvements at scale.
- Ability to travel up to 5 days per quarter for Together Weeks, team gatherings and other events, when applicable.
