Job Description - Sr. Industrial Designer at HyperX

Always noticing how something feels in your hands. Wondering why a button is there instead of here. Unable to unbox a product without mentally redesigning half of it, and then thinking about how it will look, feel, and age after hundreds of hours of use.

Still with us? Perfect. HyperX is looking for an experienced Senior Industrial Designer to help shape the next generation of gaming and lifestyle products from first sketch to mass production, and everything in between.

Our tagline isn't "We're All Gamers" for fluff. We believe great design should empower players of all levels, from first-time gamers to esports professionals, to express themselves and perform at their best. As a Senior Industrial Designer, you'll play a key role in turning that belief into tangible, well-crafted products used by millions around the world.

What You'll Do

  • Lead industrial design efforts from early exploration through production for gaming and lifestyle products
  • Develop and visualize compelling product concepts through sketching, CAD, and high-quality 2D/3D renderings
  • Translate user needs, brand values, and technical constraints into thoughtful, differentiated design solutions
  • Conduct design research including trend analysis, CMF exploration, ergonomic studies, and usability evaluation
  • Build and iterate physical prototypes to validate form, comfort, and usability
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, UX, product management, marketing, and manufacturing partners to ensure design intent is preserved through development and mass production
  • Own design documentation including CAD files, CMF specs, product labeling guidance, and design rationale
  • Advocate for the user's point of view in cross-functional discussions, connecting insights to design and business goals
  • Present design concepts and recommendations clearly and confidently to internal stakeholders
  • Contribute to the evolution of HyperX's industrial design language and product experience standards
  • Mentor and support other designers through critique, feedback, and example
  • Stay curious. Tracking design trends, materials, manufacturing techniques, and emerging technologies that can elevate our products

What You Bring

  • 7+ years of professional industrial design experience, ideally in consumer electronics or gaming
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end ownership and shipped products
  • Excellent sense of form, proportion, ergonomics, and detail
  • Advanced skills in sketching, 3D CAD (SolidWorks, Creo, or similar), and rendering (KeyShot or equivalent)
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, DFM/DFA, and CMF implementation
  • Ability to translate abstract ideas into clear, compelling, and manufacturable design solutions
  • Experience collaborating with global engineering and manufacturing teams
  • Clear, confident communication skills-able to articulate design intent and influence decisions
  • A natural tendency to ask "why?" in order to simplify and improve complex experiences
  • Passion for gaming, technology, or adjacent lifestyle products

Nice to Have

  • Experience designing audio products (headsets, microphones, earbuds)
  • Familiarity with software-hardware experience integration
  • Experience contributing to design systems or shared design languages
  • Exposure to usability testing or working closely with UX research
  • Interest in emerging technologies, adaptive products, or AI-enabled experiences

Education & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design or a related design discipline (or equivalent demonstrated experience)

Who You Are

  • A hands-on designer who loves craft but understands constraints
  • Curious, thoughtful, and never satisfied with "good enough"
  • A collaborative team player who values diverse perspectives
  • Comfortable owning problems and driving solutions forward
  • Open-minded, proactive, and excited to take on new challenges

The pay range for this role is$116,150to$182,400USD annually with additional opportunities for pay in the form of bonus and/or equity (applies to United States of America candidates only). Pay varies by work location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
