Job description

Human Resource Admin

The Human Resource Admin is responsible for executing daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department including hiring and interviewing staff, administering pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices.

Responsibilities

  • Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
  • Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring to complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
  • Attends (remotely) and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommends best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law. Able to understand and research laws and regulations set statewide.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Working with several collective bargaining agreements and government on site standards.

Additional Administrative Responsibilities

  • Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and aptitude exams and certifications.

Education/Experience

  • At least one to three years of human resource entry level experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of labor relations is a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Must be US Citizen.
  • Must be flexible and able to successfully manage simultaneous tasks.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent customer service skills required.
  • Must possess good judgment and independent decision-making abilities.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours and weekends, if required.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be self-motivated, proactive, and assertive to anticipate potential problems; must have excellent follow through skills.
  • Expert in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook);
  • Basic understanding of HRIS system
  • Must pass background check and drug test prior to and during employment as required.
  • Must not have any felony conviction; record of recent recurring misdemeanors may adversely impact candidate's suitability rating.
  • Obtain and maintain valid driver's license.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times. Must be prepared to attend weekly meetings and communicate effectively with management leads and other staff as required.
