The HR Technology Team is the primary organization within Motorola Solutions that is responsible for managing and supporting enterprise HCM applications including Workday HCM and Workday Recruiting. The team serves as a strategic partner to various HCM functions, HCM Centers of Excellence and business organizations, who are our customers. In our strategic role, we deliver Workday solutions to our customers to improve efficiency of business processes, facilitate seamless HCM transactions and enable data-driven decision making through analytics and data mining. On the operational side, we provide day-to-day support that enables our HCM partners and employees to effectively use Workday as an integral part of their daily work.
Job Description
The HR Technology Manager is a strategic leader responsible for the vision, delivery, and optimization of our global Human Capital Management (HCM) ecosystem. This role serves as the primary IT Business Relationship Manager (BRM) for the HR organization, acting as the bridge between HR leaders and technical execution.
You will lead a high-performing team of Business Analysts and Developers to manage our HCM (Workday) roadmap, ensure data integrity, and drive digital transformation. This role requires a unique blend of technical expertise, project management, and people leadership, with a focus on evaluating future-state architecture, including potential system migrations to support our growing global workforce.
  • Plans and directs the establishment and ongoing administration of Human Resources Information Systems to support short- and long-range Human Resources goals and ecosystem roadmaps roadmaps.
  • Oversees the specification, development and implementation of new or redesigned systems, reports and policies and procedures for internal use.
  • Establish and monitor KPIs for system performance, ticket resolution, and project delivery.
  • Manages relationships with software and hardware vendors and ensures the development of proper training and documentation for system use and maintenance. Manage the HR technology budget, vendor relationships, and contract renewals.
  • Lead the HCM Strategy Evolution: Conduct periodic market analysis and feasibility studies to determine if current platforms (Workday) meet future business needs, leading migration efforts to alternative HCM systems if required.
  • Drive the selection, implementation, and integration of "edge" technologies like the latest AI solutions into the core HCM.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact and strategic partner for HR leadership (Recruiting, Rewards, Payroll, People Analytics, and more).
  • Directly manage a team of Business Analysts and Developers, fostering a culture of agile delivery, continuous learning, and technical excellence.
  • Ensure the highest standards of data privacy (GDPR, CCPA) and security across all HR platforms.
  • Partner with Internal Audit and Security teams to maintain robust SOX controls and system permissions.
  • Standardize global reporting and analytics, providing HR leaders with actionable workforce insights.

Required Qualifications
  • Experience: 8+ years in HR Technology, with at least 3 years in a leadership/people management role.
  • Technical Mastery: Expert-level knowledge of Workday (HCM, Recruit, Payroll, Benefits, Talent, and Security) or comparable Tier-1 HCM systems.
  • Migration Experience: Proven track record of leading large-scale system implementations or HCM-to-HCM migrations.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, HR, or a related field.
  • Methodology: Strong experience in Agile/Scrum environments and ITIL frameworks.
Preferred Skills & Attributes
  • The "Consultant" Mindset: Ability to influence C-suite stakeholders and challenge the status quo to improve process efficiency.
  • Technical Depth: Familiarity with HR system integrations (API, EIB, Studio) and middleware platforms.
  • Change Management: Exceptional communication skills with the ability to lead organizations through significant technology shifts.
  • Certifications: Workday Pro, PMP, or BRM Professional (BRMP) certifications are a major plus.

Target Base Salary Range: $150,000 USD - $165,000 USD
Consistent with Motorola Solutions values and applicable law, we provide the following information to promote pay transparency and equity. Pay within this range varies and depends on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The actual offer will be based on the individual candidate.
Note: Candidates local to the Chicago is preferred.
