Job description

Human Resources Assistant (Part-Time)
Mount Mary University • Milwaukee, WI
25 hours/week • Onsite • Pay starts at $19/hour
Looking for meaningful part-time work with great benefits? Join Mount Mary University's HR team as our HR Assistant.
Benefits include four weeks of vacation and four weeks of sick time (pro-rated), and 13½ paid holidays, in addition to paid Friday half days in the summer time
As our HR Assistant, you're the welcoming first point of contact for faculty and staff, and the person who keeps HR operations running smoothly. You'll work directly with our HR team, gaining hands-on experience across the full HR function.
What you'll do
  • Process HR transactions from hire through separation - new hires, status and pay changes, job changes, tuition waivers and terminations - with accuracy and attention to deadlines
  • Maintain employee data in our HRIS, keeping records current, consistent, and audit-ready
  • Prepare offer letters, onboarding packets, and new hire materials, then conduct onboarding meetings that give new employees a great first impression of Mount Mary
  • Maintain physical and electronic personnel files and ensure compliance with record-keeping standards including I-9s, training records, and motor vehicle record checks
  • Serve as the front-line contact for HR - answering the HR phone, greeting visitors, responding to employee questions, and completing employment verifications
  • Support HR events and programs such as new employee orientations, recognition events, and open enrollment
  • Provide backup support across the HR team, including coverage during absences and assistance with special projects
What you bring
  • 1+ year of administrative experience required (HR experience a plus)
  • 1+ year of customer service experience required
  • Associate degree or related coursework preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and comfort with Microsoft Office, especially Excel
  • Discretion with confidential information and a service-first mindset
  • Ability to prioritize and stay organized during busy stretches of the year
