Senior Vice President, Human Resources

Air

Arlington, VA

Full-time

Job description

Company Description

Air is the leader in Enterprise Readiness. Our mission is to establish readiness as a real-time condition that is continuously achieved. Today, a dangerous Readiness Gap exists between what the front line needs and what is delivered. Our AI-native platform, Air Enterprise Readiness, aligns development, production, delivery, and sustainment into one coordinated execution system for government agencies and industrial suppliers. By revealing true capacity, exposing real constraints, coordinating resources, and executing at the speed of operational demands, the front line gets what it needs to succeed.

The Role

We are seeking a high-energy, mission-focused Senior Vice President of Human Resources to lead our overarching People operations strategy. In this executive leadership role, you will completely own People Operations, Strategic Learning and Development (L&D), and Talent Acquisition. You aren't just a traditional HR executive; you are a trusted advisor to the executive team and a true expert in the "so what," capable of translating complex organizational data into clear human capital strategies that advance national security objectives.

To excel here, you must possess a healthy intolerance of mediocrity and a passion for building high-performing, mission-driven teams. You are independent, driven, and fundamentally scrappy—ready to roll up your sleeves to scale an organization while navigating the nuances of a fast-paced technology environment. You have an eminence about you that commands respect, exceptional judgment when balancing competing company priorities, and a burning desire to deliver excellence to a company doing work that matters to the Nation.

Scope of Responsibilities

  • Own and Lead People Operations Strategy: Architect, build, and optimize enterprise-wide HR strategies spanning total rewards, compliance, employee relations, and culture initiatives to support rapid scaling.
  • Drive Talent Acquisition Velocity: Spearhead the Talent Acquisition organization to source, select, and onboard top-tier technical and defense domain talent, continuously exceeding aggressive growth goals.
  • Champion Strategic Learning & Development: Create persistent, high-impact L&D frameworks and mentorship tracks to train and upskill technical, delivery, and sales personnel.
  • Serve as an Internal Trusted Advisor: Act as a critical partner to executive leadership on strategic workforce planning, succession management, and organizational design.
  • Foster Performance-Driven Culture: Instill and maintain a company-wide standard of elite performance, ensuring rigorous performance management aligned with our intolerance of mediocrity.
  • Manage Enterprise Risk & Compliance: Ensure all workforce practices and processes adhere to federal regulations, employment laws, and security protocols required within a federally accredited software environment.

Qualifications & Skills

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution

Required:

  • 10+ years of progressive HR leadership experience, with specific ownership over People Operations, Strategic L&D, and Talent Acquisition tracks.
  • Proven track record of scaling a technology or defense-contracting organization in a high-growth environment.
  • Outstanding business acumen and a performance-driven mindset where past performance guides future strategic initiatives.

Desired:

  • Experience working within or scaling talent teams at an enterprise Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) or defense-tech startup.
  • Advanced degree (MBA or Master's in HR/Organizational Development) from a top-tier institution.
  • Direct familiarity with standard enterprise platforms and tools (e.g., Greenhouse, Salesforce, HRIS systems).

We firmly believe that past performance is the best indicator of future performance. If you thrive while building solutions to complex problems, are a self-starter, and are passionate about making an impact in global security, we're eager to hear from you.
