What is human physiology?
What is human physiology?
Human physiology is a specific field of physiology, which is itself part of the large field of biological science. It is concerned chiefly with research to develop further understanding of human health, adaptation, anatomy, and mechanics related to biomechanical systems in the human body. Studying human physiology is an essential requirement for many different fields and degrees, such as pre-med, biology, nursing, and biomechanical engineering. Physiology is closely related to another sub-discipline, anatomy. While anatomy studies the framework of the body, physiology studies its mechanics and biochemical function. Physiology incorporates many aspects of human anatomy, such as organ systems, the nervous system, and body chemistry.

What types of teams or professionals does a human physiologist commonly collaborate with in a healthcare or research setting?
What is the difference between Human Physiology vs Medical Laboratory Technician?
| Aspect | Human Physiology | Medical Laboratory Technician |
|---|---|---|
| Required Credentials | Bachelor's degree in physiology or related field | Associate's degree or certification in medical laboratory technology |
| Work Environment | Research labs, universities, healthcare settings | Hospitals, clinics, diagnostic labs |
| Industry Usage | Academic research, healthcare, education | Diagnostic testing, sample analysis |
While both roles involve working within healthcare and scientific environments, Human Physiology focuses on understanding bodily functions through research and education, often requiring a bachelor's degree. Medical Laboratory Technicians perform diagnostic tests on samples in clinical settings, typically with an associate degree or certification. The two careers differ in their primary focus, work environment, and required credentials, but both contribute significantly to healthcare and medical research.
