Job description

The Organizational Human Performance Coordinator is responsible for supporting the execution and continuous improvement of the Southern Company Gas Human Performance strategy through coordination of enterprise initiatives, facilitation of organizational learning, performance analysis, and implementation of process improvements that strengthen operational excellence, reliability, and safety performance. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Human Performance Program Support

  • Support the execution of enterprise Human Performance initiatives by coordinating activities, tracking deliverables, monitoring progress, and preparing stakeholder communications.

  • Champion the implementation and continuous improvement of Human Performance principles and practices across operational organizations.

  • Support adoption of Human Performance Standards of Excellence and enterprise learning strategies that improve organizational effectiveness and reduce operational risk.

  • Assist in translating Human Performance strategy into actionable plans and sustainable business improvements.

Organizational Learning and Performance Improvement

  • Facilitate or support event learning reviews, learning teams, normal-work observations, and post-event evaluations to identify organizational learning opportunities and system improvements.

  • Apply Human Performance concepts, root cause analysis, barrier analysis, Lean methodologies, and continuous improvement tools to address operational challenges and strengthen organizational defenses.

  • Identify trends, contributing factors, and systemic improvements through analysis of operational performance data and event learnings.

  • Support the development, implementation, and tracking of corrective actions and performance improvement initiatives.

Business Intelligence, Reporting, and Communications

  • Develop and maintain Human Performance dashboards, reports, presentations, website content, and communication materials.

  • Prepare management reports and stakeholder updates that communicate initiative status, performance trends, lessons learned, and improvement opportunities.

  • Maintain Human Performance documentation, standards, processes, playbooks, and lessons learned within enterprise knowledge management systems.

  • Support business intelligence and analytics efforts that enable informed decision-making and organizational learning.

Training and Facilitation

  • Support the development and delivery of Human Performance training, workshops, and learning experiences.

  • Facilitate collaborative problem-solving sessions and stakeholder engagement activities.

  • Assist operational teams in identifying improvement opportunities and implementing sustainable solutions.

  • Promote a learning-focused culture that encourages open communication, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Operations, Safety, Training, Pipeline Safety Management Systems, Technology, Analytics, Customer Experience, Process Integration, and other stakeholders to support enterprise objectives.

  • Coordinate action plans and monitor implementation efforts across multiple business functions.

  • Build effective working relationships with leaders and employees at all organizational levels.

  • Support initiatives that improve customer service, operational performance, safety excellence, and business results.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Analytics, Information Technology, Engineering, Occupational Safety, Organizational Effectiveness, or a related field preferred; or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.

  • Five (5) or more years of experience in utility operations, process improvement, safety, organizational effectiveness, Human Performance, project coordination, or related disciplines preferred.

  • Previous experience supporting Human Performance programs, event learning processes, learning teams, or organizational learning initiatives strongly preferred.

  • Experience facilitating meetings, workshops, learning teams, or cross-functional improvement efforts preferred.

  • Demonstrated experience preparing executive presentations, reports, and stakeholder communications.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong written, verbal, presentation, and facilitation skills.

  • Ability to communicate complex concepts in a clear, concise, and effective manner.

  • Knowledge of utility operations, customer operations, field operations, safety systems, resource management, and supporting business processes preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, coordinate action plans, and execute initiatives in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.

  • Ability to effectively engage, influence, and collaborate with stakeholders across all levels of the organization.

  • Proven ability to work independently and within highly cross-functional teams.

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, and other presentation and reporting tools.

  • Experience with Microsoft Power BI or similar data visualization and dashboarding applications preferred.

  • Experience using business systems, including Customer Information Systems, Customer Service Systems, Customer Management Applications, Customer Care and Billing systems, Click software solutions, or preferred similar platforms.
