What You Will Do
This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Human Factors Engineer II to join us onsite in a closed area program with the LCE team in Tewksbury, MA.
As a Human Factors Engineer II, your responsibilities will include:
  • Developing and implementing one or more MIL-STD-1472 compliant Human Factors programs.
  • Performing MIL-STD-1472 Human Factors Program tasks and analyses.
  • Leading Human Factors Engineering efforts across all integrated product teams and lines to properly eliminate hazards or provide effective controls.
  • Coordinating with customer human factors representatives applying methods, standards, and techniques to provide clarification of system requirements to software, hardware, and test personnel to ensure design and architecture considerations are appropriately allocated to the system and horizontally integrated across the development teams.
  • Performing Human Factors planning, hazard analyses and design analyses.
  • Briefing human factors considerations at technical reviews and as part of the engineering approval process.
  • Interpreting system requirements, customer specifications and military/commercial standards.
  • Preparing internal and customer reports describing various analyses relevant to the Human Factors program.
  • Collaborating across multiple disciplines to gain a full understanding of product architecture and design.
  • Interfacing with other engineering functions: Systems Engineering, Software or Firmware Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Hardware Engineering.

Qualifications You Must Have
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience
  • Experience with Human Factors Engineering, Human Systems Integration, or Safety Engineering
  • Experience with hardware and/or software
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for the required security clearance.

Qualifications We Prefer
  • Experience defense, aerospace, or safety-critical systems
  • Experience with requirements development or systems engineering processes
  • Experience with usability evaluation, task analysis, or human performance concepts (internship level acceptable)
  • Experience with user interface design concepts, wireframing, or prototyping tools
  • Experience with MIL-STD-1472 human factors concepts (introductory exposure acceptable)
  • Experience with MIL-STD-882 system safety concepts (introductory exposure acceptable)

The salary range for this role is 68,900 USD - 131,100 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
