Job description

POSITION: SECURITY TRAFFIC OFFICER

REPORTS TO: SUPERVISOR

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Patrol HSC parking lots and exterior premises, observe and report unusual activity, and

respond to security situations.

Investigate, evaluate, and report all security, injury/accident incidents to the supervisor.

Observe any problems with the building(s) and report to the appropriate departments.

Assist HSC tenants and patrons with security-related situations and refer problems to supervisor or appropriate departments.

Enforce HSC Policies, Rules, and Regulations.

Use correct penal and radio codes in communicating with department employees and supervisors.

Other duties as assigned by supervisor(s).

QUALIFICATIONS:

Possession of a valid Guard Card.

Completion of Guard Training Program, including how to make a citizenโ€™s arrest, properly handcuff, and transcultural orientation sensitivity training.


A minimum of 1-year experience using Microsoft Word and Excel software (for report writing).

A high school diploma or GED equivalency certificate.


Possession of a valid California Driverโ€™s License and ability to operate department vehicles.


SKILLS AND ABILITIES:


Ability to walk or stand for long periods of time. (Job requires approximately 4-5 miles of walking in 8-hour shift)

Verbal, writing, and grammar skills equivalent to three years of high school English.

Ability to observe and accurately describe a situation both verbally and in writing, with specific facts and details and without opinion.

Ability to organize and prioritize more than one task at a time and seek assistance as needed from supervisor(s).

Exceptional customer service skills. Ability to work with all types and temperaments of customers and coworkers without losing composure. Ability to direct a difficult customer to a supervisor without engaging in confrontational behavior.

Ability to learn HSC layout and Tenant locations, mall boundaries, and Company department locations and functions.

Ability to stay awake and alert during grave shift hours.

Ability to learn and use radio and penal codes and HSC Policies, Rules, and Regulations and use 2-way radio communication equipment.

Ability to quickly respond to emergency or security situations and obey orders and follow instructions regardless of personal feelings or opinions.

Ability to calmly deal with physical and verbal abuse from customers without retaliation.

Ability to work as part of a team.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be physically able to operate a variety of Security equipment such as computers.
  • Must be physically able to operate a motor vehicle if necessary.
  • Must be able to use body members to work, move or carry objects or materials.
  • Must be able to exert up to fifty pounds of force occasionally, and/or up-to twenty pounds frequently.
  • Physical demand requirements are at levels of those for physically active work.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, reach, kneel, stand, sit, and walk for at least up to 8 hours in a shift.
  • Must be able to climb at least 3 flights of stairs. Must be able to actively respond to emergency and non-emergency-related incidents per 8-hour shift.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must carry 'Security' certification from the appropriate state agency.

Must be comfortable working in a highly critical, fast-paced environment shifting priorities.

Must follow PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) guidelines as determined for the position.

Must wear RMI security uniform and proper footwear.

Must be able to respond to emergency situations at the data center.

Must work on-site; no telecommuting permitted.

Must possess a current, valid state-issued driver's license.
