Job description

The Preschool Services Department (PSD) is recruiting for Program Quality Specialists who ensure staff compliance with Federal Head Start Performance Standards and State (CACFP) regulations specific to the PSD food services program.

Specialists also serve as the primary department representative for internal and external staff and agencies for program information. A vacancy currently exists in the Special Services Program in San Bernardino. An eligible list will be established to fill current and future vacancies as they occur throughout San Bernardino County.

EXCELLENT BENEFITS To review job-specific benefits, refer to: Summary of Benefits Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT 1) Must be able to lift small children and other objects up to 50 pounds. Other physical demands include: sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, crawling, twisting, grasping, fine manipulation, pushing/pulling, reaching, stooping, using smell and touch, working outside and vision and hearing.

2) Must pass a pre-employment physical including a tuberculosis test and required immunizations (SB792). 3) Must complete the AB 1207 - Child Care Providers: Mandated Reporter Training prior to placement at a school site. 4) Must obtain a valid San Bernardino County Food Handler's card and qualifying First Aid/CPR cards within two (2) weeks of hire and maintain throughout employment.

5) Must possess an official photo identification card. 6) A valid California Class C Driver License is required to carry out the essential job-related functions of this position. Mileage reimbursement and proof of automobile liability insurance must be maintained.

BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION Job offers are contingent upon passing a background investigation which includes a fingerprint check and search of the Child Abuse Index before appointment. If an individual has been convicted of a crime other than a minor traffic violation, the individual cannot work or be present in any community care facility unless they request and subsequently obtain a criminal record exemption from the Community Care Licensing Division, Care Provider Management Bureau (CPMB).

With the exception of minor traffic violations, all convictions, including misdemeanors, felonies, and convictions occurring a long time ago, require an exemption. CPMB also examines arrest records to determine if there is a possible danger to clients. Crimes against children and convictions of a violent nature, such as sex offenses, murder, manslaughter, arson, and robbery are crimes for which an exemption cannot be issued.

(Health & Safety Code section 1596.871) Minimum Requirements CANDIDATES MUST MEET ALL OF THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS: EDUCATION Must possess thirty (30) semester (45 quarter) units (or higher) of completed college coursework in behavioral science, business/public administration, restaurant management or closely related field. ***Coursework must be completed with a grade of "C" or better ("pass" and "credit" grades meet this requirement). Transcripts MUST be submitted.*** EXPERIENCE Must possess one (1) year of full-time equivalent food service experience in a restaurant, fast food restaurant, institutional cafeteria or similar environment

0 Desired Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess an Associate degree (or higher) in behavioral science, business/public administration, or restaurant management, supervisory experience in a food service environment as well as experience with compliance and interpretation of food service regulations, record keeping and reporting.
