Join KCR's Human Resources team as an HR Generalist and help support the employees who make our mission possible. This role is responsible for a variety of human resources functions that contribute to a positive, inclusive, and compliant workplace. The HR Generalist serves as a resource for employees and managers, supports key employment processes throughout the employee lifecycle, and helps promote employee engagement and organizational success.

Job Title: HR Generalist

Work Environment: In person, office. Primarily 845 8th Street - will be required to make non-routine visits to all KCR sites, including Head Start sites.

Job Summary
The Human Resources Generalist plays a key role in fostering a positive, compliant, and engaged workplace environment. Under the guidance and supervision of HR leadership, this position performs a wide range of human resources functions that support employees and organizational operations throughout the employee lifecycle.
Responsibilities include benefits administration, leave administration, records management, onboarding and offboarding processes, tracking employee training and development, responding to employee inquiries, coordinating the KCR Wellness Program, and assisting the Marketing team with employee and organizational events. The HR Generalist also supports talent acquisition activities by maintaining job postings, attending job fairs, assisting hiring managers throughout the recruitment process, and facilitating new hire orientation sessions.
In addition, the HR Generalist is responsible for maintaining accurate HR records, ensuring compliance with applicable policies and employment laws, and supporting employee engagement initiatives. This role requires attendance at relevant HR trainings and conferences to maintain current knowledge of Washington State and federal employment laws and HR best practices.

Job Requirements
Qualifications:
  1. Required:
    1. HR or other relevant certifications and/or education (SHRM-CP, aPHR, PHR) and 2 years' experience in human resources, recruiting, or related field.
    2. Demonstrated experience interviewing candidates for employment and facilitating comprehensive new hire orientation to support a positive onboarding experience.
    3. Working knowledge of Washington State and federal employment laws and regulations, including job posting requirements, leave laws, anti-discrimination and equal employment opportunity (EEO) standards, and employee rights and protections.
  2. Ability to successfully pass all required state and federal background checks, including the DCYF background check prior to hire, as the position requires access to Head Start program sites.
  3. Demonstrated level of proficiency and successful experience with a variety of software applications (such as HR software (MIP), MS Office Suite - especially Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
  1. Demonstrated ability to manage confidential and sensitive information with a high level of discretion, professionalism, and integrity.
  2. Must demonstrate recognition and compassion for low-income peoples.
  3. Demonstrated successful experience in administering clerical and/or Human Resources programs and processes.
  4. Must have the ability and availability to attend required HR training and conferences, which may include travel and overnight hotel stays.
  5. Demonstrated ability to initiate appropriate actions and processes with or without direct supervision in coordination with KCR and HR best practices.
  6. Demonstrated successful interpersonal communication and employee relations skills.

License(s) and/or Certifications:
  1. Valid Washington State Driver's License
  2. Ability to obtain proof of insurability for operating an automobile.
Essential Physical and Mental Functions

Responsibilities- Included but are not limited to
  1. Provide for excellent service to all KCR staff and leaders regarding the transparency and support for HR processes.
  2. Collaborates with staff and leaders throughout the agency to assess needs, design plans and implement appropriate actions to address the needs.
  3. Responsible for completing administrative functions relating to the Human Resources Department such as federal, state and local reports, forms, and compiling statistical data.
  4. Report to and accept a wide variety of HR related clerical, administrative and research assignments from the Human Resources Manager or other KCR leaders.
  5. Maintain and create complete personnel files and HR records; both physical and digital files.
  6. Responsible for administering KCR's recruitment process including job postings, interviews, background checks, reference checks, and new hire orientation (including benefits enrollment).
  7. Monitors employment and hiring practices to ensure management is conforming with legal requirements, particularly EEO guidelines and relevant agency policy.
  8. Assists in the regular updating and promulgation of approved policies and processes through the Personnel Manual and Employee Handbook.
  9. Responsible for completion of leave processing including: providing notification and informational packets; determining eligibility; and tracking all used FMLA hours.
  10. Ensure consistent format for job descriptions and maintain master electronic job description folder.
  11. Responsible for facilitating HR projects such as policy revisions, evaluation procedures, and job postings.
  12. Primary point of contact for employee inquiries concerning personnel policies and procedures.
  13. Monitor employee safety, welfare, wellness and health - coordinates Wellness Team.
  14. Assist supervisors/managers on evaluation procedures - collect and maintain employee evaluations with personnel file.
  15. Provide support to supervisors/managers with a wide variety of HR programs and systems (e.g., evaluations, Personnel Action Forms, employment interviews, employee relations, etc.) as needed.
  16. Assist HR leadership with employee relations matters as necessary or appropriate.
  17. Serve as a KCR representative on local or other groups as assigned and/or agreed to.
  18. Responsible for development and implementation of training programs. Includes tracking completed training, facilitating training, maintaining records and enrollments.
  19. Assist the Marketing team with planning and implementing employee and organizational events, such as the summer picnic and Christmas Angel program.
  20. Other job related duties as assigned by the HR Manager, HR Director or other leadership members.
