Job description

Position Title:Benchmark Analytics ManagerDepartment:Financial ServicesJob Description:

General Description:

This position is a part of our Financial System support team and will be responsible for leading projects to optimize, implement and troubleshoot our financial systems. Will identify opportunities for improvement, efficiency, and accuracy. Will create and execute testing requirements and effectively report findings, design and maintain standard operating procedures and provide training, and be a dynamic Finance representative for multi-function projects working with key SMEs from Finance, Supply Chain, HR, Data Analytics, IT, Internal/External Consultants and our Executive Leaders.

Will use knowledge of financial system applications in Workday, Axiom, Tableau, and banking platforms to meet the goals of operations, accounting, and reporting across the entire hospital system. The Sr Finance Systems Analyst will support our evolving financial structure, data collection and application for system integrations, application of accounting and audit requirements and lead projects as needed. Will also support non-finance colleagues in the collection and appropriate use of budget and actuals data. Will mentor and train less experienced team members.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Project Management and team leadership- will lead Finance system projects and train and mentor less experience team members.
  • Accountancy - evaluate the accuracy of operational journal source transactions when in question, identify and apply proper accounting rules during project implementations, support Finance Leaders with streamlining audit request and application of accounting standards. Direct guidance on how key finance business processes are impacted by strategic decisions; including, but not limited to, Monthly accruals, monthly and yearly financial close transactions, Sales tax execution in the system, cash applications for AR, AP, and expense reports, ad-hoc financial reporting, other operation departments with finance system requests.
  • Data Integration - incorporate new business and system data into and out of our finance system while maintaining enterprise best practices and adhering to data governance standards.
  • Reporting - collaborate with colleagues across the enterprise to scope requests. Extract data from various data sources, validate results, create relevant data visualizations, and share with requester. Develop dashboards and automate refreshes as appropriate.
  • Communication and Training - Create and maintain relationships across the organization to serve others by developing, sharing, and updating standard operating procedure, training, and reference materials for end users. Effectively document changes/enhancements of the system and the impact to processes. Clearly communicate to end users about major changes in a timely manner.
  • Governance / Best Practices - champion the appropriate use of the system to meet accounting standards. Also educate and support colleagues in best practices to ensure that data is used appropriately.
  • Product Ownership - collaborate and act as the voice of the finance team to offer concrete feedback and project requests as well as an advocate for analytics from within the business units themselves.
  • Runs, verifies, and builds upon core financial system processes such as budget planning, forecasting, and reporting
  • Ensures business intelligence needs are met by collaborating with Data Analytics management and architecture teams to develop reports, train end users and assist with data base design
  • Develops ad-hoc self-service reports, analytics, and dashboards

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree required. Degree in Accounting, Finance, Computer Science, Business or Accounting Information Systems preferred.

Experience: 5 or more years of experience in finance and/or SQL required. 4+ years of related work experience preferred. Project Management and Tableau or other Reporting Software (Cognos, Crystal Reports, Prism Analytics, Query) experience preferred.

License(s)/Certification(s)/Registration(s) Required: None.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience supporting and working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment.
  • High level knowledge of the Microsoft Suite.
  • A quick learner who is willing to learn and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to understand IT technical architecture diagrams.
  • Knowledge of performing root cause analysis on internal and external data, operation transactions, and standard operating processes to answer specific business questions and identify opportunity for improvement.
  • A person who is flexible and can support and work with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment.
  • Previous experience manipulating, processing and extracting value from large disconnected datasets.
  • Ability to manage multiple initiatives in parallel while prioritizing appropriately.
  • Must have experience influencing business leaders and peers about the proper use of standard business process flows and system functionality.
  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Must be a good team player and good motivator.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and present a professional image.
