Job description

Texas Connections Academyย  (TCA) is a Texas Online School that offers 100% virtual instruction to public school students across Texas in grades 3-12 who are not physically present on campus during instruction. The TxVSN OLS program is authorized by Texas Education Code (TEC) Chapter 30A and administered through TEA. Connections Education, LLC is in partnership with Houston ISD to provide this high quality and rigorous virtual instruction through TCA.

Position Summary and Responsibilities

Working from your home office in Texas, the Administrative Assistant is a 12-month employee that provides comprehensive clerical and administrative support to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the High School. This role works closely with school leadership and staff to facilitate daily school functions, manage communications, and assist with operational tasks. The ideal candidate is highly organized, professional, and customer-service oriented.

Theย  Administrative Assistant will be responsible for

  • Provide general secretarial and administrative support to the Principal and the upper division leadership team.
  • Perform a variety of clerical duties to support daily school operations.
  • Routinely handle internal and external correspondence/communication with discretion and accuracy.
  • Schedule and coordinate meetings.
  • Distribute correspondence promptly.
  • Assist staff, students and parents with professionalism and courtesy .
  • Maintain a working knowledge of school policies, events, and public information to assist faculty, staff, and families.
  • Prepare and submit purchase orders and vendor invoices.
  • Assist the Principal and upper division leadership team in coordinating interviews, scheduling applicants, tracking interview data, and preparing related reports.
  • Serve as a liaison between the High School teams and the Enrollment Department to ensure effective communication and coordination of enrollment processes.
  • Generate reports and prepare documents for school level projects.
  • Attend virtual and in-person department, school or district meetings as required.
  • All TCAH staff must be able to participate in occasional in-person activities. Travel may be required. May require occasional overnight travel.
  • Provide support for special projects.
  • Maintain a courteous, businesslike, and professional demeanor in all communications and interactions.
  • Foster a welcoming and responsive environment for sta and community stakeholders.
  • Speak with parents, students, and other school representatives and officials.
  • Working individually and within a team to accomplish projects and tasks.
  • Assisting the upper division leadership team with a wide variety of daily responsibilities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the principal.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's degree strongly preferred.
  • 2-4 years of working in a school or office setting required.
  • Proficiency with both Microsoft Office tools such as Excel and Google Suite as well as web-based applications is essential.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Customer focused approach.

  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
