Job description

FIELD SERVICE TECHNICIAN - Level 1, 2 or 3

Purpose of Position:

IEM will provide training on our specific equipment and commissioning process in Ashburn, VA for approximately 4 weeks. You will be responsible for hands-on field service work at customer sites, with a focus on installation of components and subassemblies, and basic commissioning of IEM equipment primarily in data center or industrial applications. This includes, but may not be limited to:

  • Attending project meetings as required, including coordination with contractors and clients.
  • Installation and modification of electrical or mechanical components and subassemblies which may include: Panelboard interiors, Circuit breakers, Bus bar, Switchgear section doors and subpanels, addition of control components, Power Cabling and control wiring;
  • Perform basic testing of modified assemblies (visual, ductor, etc.).
  • Perform basic commissioning of switchboards, controls panels, and power products.
  • Troubleshooting of electrical circuits and networking equipment.
  • Coordinating with Technical Project Manager or manufacturing facilities to find solutions to product or commissioning issues identified by IEM or reported by the customer in the field, and identifying additional field resources needed for installation and replacement parts.
  • Performing preventive maintenance, field installations and modifications to existing equipment
  • Technical product support

Education and Experience:

  • A technical degree or equivalent and 8 yrs+ of experience working in a manufacturing environment, data center or field service role with COMMISSIONING OF LV/MV ELECTRICAL SWITCHGEAR (required for Level 3 candidates).
  • Must be a team player and have strong communication skills
  • Ability to work independently without direct supervision is a must
  • Ability to travel (75%). Must be willing to work evenings and weekends when needed.
  • Experience with switchgear and electrical controls system. (required for Level 3)
  • Military experience (Plus)
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical wiring diagrams (required for level 3)

Compensation

The hourly range for this role is $36.30 -$52.80 per hour, based on location, experience, and qualifications.
