Job description

The Pre-Delivery Technician performs required inspection, adjustment, functional testing and rigging of vehicles and equipment prior to customer delivery. Duties may also include but are not limited to incoming inspection for damages and/or missing parts, inoperable components and completion of Pre-Delivery Inspection as required by the manufacturer; performing maintenance and/or correction procedures; collection and retention of serial numbers; verifying bills of materials, included vehicle options and equipment lists, performing warranty repairs as directed, and providing timely feedback to lead person. The Pre-Delivery Technician will understand that the Customer may be the next person to use the vehicle. The Customer’s first impression must be positive. If there is a doubt notify lead person.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform incoming inspections for damages and/or missing parts, inoperable components and completion of Pre-Delivery Inspection as required by the manufacturer.
  • Perform maintenance and/or correction procedures, collection and retention of serial numbers.
  • Verify bills of materials, included vehicle options and equipment lists.
  • Perform warranty repairs as directed and provide timely feedback to lead person.
  • Read job order; locate and obtain all applicable checklists. Complete checklists neatly and legibly.
  • All work must be done in conjunction with the appropriate checklists. Work may include warranty or recall repairs or mods along with accessory installation. Areas of required specific knowledge include:
    • Mechanical: Including but not limited to torque checking and recording all axle U bolts and wheel lug nuts, removing and replacing axle and wheel seals as required, and visual inspection of suspension, steering and other linkages for correct installation and orientation. Radiators, coolers and coolant checks will verify type, levels and leak-free operation.
    • Hydraulics: Checking and adjusting fluid levels and drive belt tensions. Checking and noting hydraulics line routing and inspecting and correcting leaks and possible rub points. As directed and depending on vehicle type may R&R system filters following system checks and adjustments and may assist in the installation and testing of wet kits. After adjusting fluid levels, will ensure that plugs, caps and other fittings are secure and leak-free.
    • Compressed Air: Includes air brake function and checking and noting air line routing and inspecting and correcting leaks and possible rub points. Tire and wheel inspection shall verify condition, specification, size and inflation.
    • Electrical: Battery and battery cable inspection and adjustment and test of lighting and electrical devices to include aiming headlights. Illuminated mil lights must be recorded and reported to the lead person.
    • Planning: Able to scope assigned job and order parts, supplies and forms in advance of actual work.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or general education diploma (GED). Beginning level related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Commercial Driver’s License and good driving record.
  • Computer skills commensurate with using an assigned Outlook account and sourcing reference information and checklists as needed or directed.
