Job description

Headquartered in Washington, D.C., Banyan Global is an international development consulting firm with expertise in monitoring, evaluation and learning, economic growth, health, and empowering communities. Banyan Global is recruiting an Evaluation Specialist based in the Gambia for an upcoming project with the Millennium Challenge Corporate (MCC). The Evaluation Specialist will support an evaluation of the MCC’s support of the Gambia Threshold Governance Project, the Gambia Threshold Operations Project, focusing on the energy sector.  The Evaluation Specialist will support evaluation design, implementation, and coordination with key stakeholders, including host-country government counterparts, utilities, and local organizations. This is a part-time consultancy anticipated to take place from April 2026 through October 2027.


  • Support the design and implementation of a mixed-method evaluation, including development of an evaluation framework, data collection tools, and analytical approaches.
  • Coordinate closely with the government governments, relevant ministries, utilities, and local NGOs to support effective evaluation planning, access to data, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Contribute to qualitative and quantitative data analysis.

Key Requirements

  • Minimum of eight (8) years of experience supporting mixed-method project evaluations in the Gambia.
  • Proven experience coordinating with the government, ministries, utilities, and/or local NGOs in the design and implementation of evaluations.
  • Master’s degree or higher in international development, program evaluation, economics, sociology, or a related field.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in English
  • Residency in the Gambia

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience assessing energy sector, electricity sector governance and utility performance strongly preferred.
  • Experience applying Problem-Driven Iterative Adaptation (PDIA) or similar adaptive, learning-oriented methodologies.
  • Strong background in qualitative research methods.
