Responsibilities & Expectations:
The Operations Supervisor is responsible for supporting day-to-day operations within the service center, driving safety, quality, and productivity while helping ensure a high level of customer satisfaction. This role provides direct supervision of technicians and shop personnel in an electric motor and generator repair facility and partners closely with leadership to execute operational goals.
The Operations Supervisor plays a hands-on role in coordinating labor, monitoring workflow, and supporting continuous improvement efforts across the shop. This position is highly visible and requires strong communication, organization, and leadership skills to support both short-term production needs and long-term operational success.
  • Supervise and direct hourly employees to ensure safe work practices and active participation in safety programs, including audits, incident reporting, training, Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), LOTO procedures, and housekeeping standards
  • Support accountability across the team through consistent communication, documentation, and regular check-ins with employees
  • Foster a team-oriented environment by supporting and engaging technicians, encouraging collaboration, and promoting a strong safety and performance culture
  • Communicate effectively with team members and leadership to ensure alignment on priorities, customer needs, and operational goals
  • Coordinate daily shop floor activities, including teardown, inspection, repair, rewind, and reassembly of electric motors and generators
  • Assist with planning and scheduling labor to meet production demands, including managing overtime, rush jobs, and staffing needs
  • Support the execution of production schedules and ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to quality standards
  • Monitor workflow and assist in identifying and resolving bottlenecks or operational challenges
  • Assist with tracking labor, consumables, and other operational costs to support overall efficiency and performance
  • Support customer interactions as needed, including coordinating job inspections and ensuring customer requirements are met
  • Assist with quality initiatives, including adherence to work instructions, documentation, and process improvements
  • Support continuous improvement efforts related to safety, quality, delivery, and cost

Qualifications and Competencies:
  • 3+ years of experience in a supervisory or lead role within a repair, manufacturing, or service environment
  • Working knowledge of mechanical and/or electrical repair of industrial equipment
  • Experience with generators, electric motors, or rotating equipment preferred
  • Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to lead and motivate a team
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Basic experience with scheduling, planning, and production coordination
  • Exposure to continuous improvement practices (Lean, 5S, safety programs) preferred
