Hourly EHS Lead - 1st Shift
Location:
1000 N. Black Branch Road
Elizabethtown, KY 42701
Schedule:
Full-time; Monday 7:00 AM - Friday 3:00 PM (Eastern Time)
Overtime and weekend work frequently required.
Pay:
$30.04 per hour, with an additional $0.50 per hour shift differential when working 2nd shift and a $0.75 per hour shift differential when working 3rd shift. Hourly employees are paid weekly via direct deposit.

Position Summary
Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) is responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable EHS regulations, corporate standards, and for maintaining the site's EHS management system. The team focuses on reducing EHS risks and supports site functions by assessing risk, identifying non-compliance, and providing recommendations to mitigate risk.
Reporting to the EHS Manager, the EHS Lead is a peer-to-peer advocate on the floor. This employee bridges the gap between floor employees and plant management, monitoring compliance, reporting hazards, and fostering a zero-incident safety culture.
Key Responsibilities
The EHS Lead handles practical, hands-on tasks to prevent injuries:
  • Hazard Audits: conduct daily walkthroughs of the plant floor to spot unsafe conditions (e.g., slip/trip hazards, blocked exits, machine malfunctions, etc).
  • Incident Investigations: Work alongside EHS Manager and plant management to investigate near-misses and injuries, determining root causes.
  • Safety Meetings & Training: Create and communicate pre-shift 'toolbox talks', create plantwide communications, deliver safety orientation for new hires, lead employee safety committee meetings, and help translate complex safety policies into easily digestible practices.
  • Equipment & PPE Oversight: Ensure machine guards are in place, emergency stop buttons are accessible, and employees are correctly using required PPE.
  • OSHA Compliance Checks: Enforce strict adherence to specific industrial standards, including ESP, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), forklift safety, etc.
  • Data Management: Gather and manage data related to EHS programs, collaborating with other departments, consultants, and contractors.
  • EHS Projects & Continuous Improvement: Participate n EHS projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Any other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Associates degree in EHS, Operations, Business, or related field preferred
  • 5-10+ years of experience in manufacturing
  • Prior leadership experience in a safety role
  • Experience in a corrugated box plant strongly preferred

Skills and Abilities
-Ability to read tape measures and perform basic math calculations with speed and accuracy including percentages, measurement, volume, and rate.
-Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or graphic form.
-Ability to deal with problems involving one or more concrete variables in standardized situations.
-Understanding of equipment design, capabilities, product layouts, and production specifications that can be translated into efficient operation.
-Strong reasoning and problem-solving skills.

-Knowledge of safety procedures and quality standards.
-Flexibility to work varied hours as needed.

Physical and Environmental Requirements
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physical tasks such as sitting, standing, walking, reaching, kneeling, climbing stairs or ramps, and operating equipment. Tasks may also involve pushing, pulling, carrying, and fine or gross motor manipulation. Visual and auditory abilities required include near and far vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to hear and understand speech. Work is performed in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, and temperature variations. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be worn as required.
