Job description

About Scale

For the past 12 years, Scale Media has been building and scaling science-backed wellness brands. Our portfolio of brands, including Live Conscious, 1MD, and Essential Elements, has grown to 9 figures in revenue while operating profitably with no external funding.

Our team is made up of operators, marketers, and builders focused on products consumers actually trust. We're investing heavily in data and AI to sharpen how we develop products and scale brands.

We believe the best decisions come from data, curiosity, and continuous learning. We value high ownership, candid feedback, and thoughtful execution. As a fully remote company, we lead with clear communication, accountability, and trust, and we give people real room to grow and make an impact.

Scale Media has been recognized as one of Forbes' Best Startup Employers, a Great Place to Work, an Inc. Best Workplace, and an Inc. 5000 company. If you take ownership, think for yourself, and like solving hard problems alongside people who do the same, you'll fit right in.
About the Role

We are looking for a mid-level Data Analyst who is far more than a report builder. You are a "Data Detective" who understands the heartbeat of the customer journey.

You will not just analyze data; you will own the truth behind our Customer Retention and Lifecycle. We need a Lifecycle Data Master who understands the nuances of CRM and loyalty platforms (Klaviyo, Loyalty Lion) and is an expert in churn analysis, cohort tracking, and LTV maximization.

Additionally, you will act as a critical partner to our Brand and Retention teams, bridging the gap between raw behavioral data, email/SMS performance, and long-term brand loyalty.

What You’ll Do

1. Retention & Lifecycle Mastery

  • Deep-Dive Analytics: Ingest, clean, and analyze complex datasets from our CRM and loyalty platforms (Klaviyo, Loyalty Lion) to provide granular insights on LTV, repeat purchase rates, and cohort degradation.
  • Churn & Retention Expert: Build robust churn prediction models and identify drop-off points in the customer journey to help the retention team intervene effectively.
  • Lifecycle Support: Empower the marketing team with actionable data on email/SMS campaign performance, segment health, loyalty program engagement, and channel efficiency.

2. Brand & Customer Experience Analytics

  • Customer Journey Mapping: Analyze the post-purchase funnel to understand how product usage, subscription models, and brand interactions drive repeat behavior.
  • Loyalty Program Optimization: Act as the lead investigator for our loyalty data. Track earn/burn rates of reward points, VIP tier migrations, and the incremental value of our rewards program.
  • Reporting: Generate reports that align brand initiatives and CRM metrics with overall revenue growth and overall customer health.

3. Data Transformation & Visualization

  • Data Preparation: While we have a Data Engineer managing the infrastructure, you will handle the "last mile" of data prep. You will use KNIME or dbt (or similar tools like Alteryx, Tableau Prep, or Python/Pandas) to clean, merge, and format data for specific analyses.
  • Business Logic Application: Write efficient SQL to transform raw log-level data in Snowflake into usable datasets that reflect our specific business rules (e.g., defining "active vs. lapsed vs. churned" customer logic).
  • Dashboarding: Design, build, and maintain high-impact dashboards in Tableau. You will translate complex SQL queries into visual stories for stakeholders.
What We’re Looking For

The Essentials (Experience & Tech Stack)

  • Experience Level: 3 years of specific Data Analysis experience. (We are not looking for Junior Analysts or Senior Data Architects; we need a hands-on mid-level executor).
  • Industry: Proven experience in DTC E-commerce is required. You must be fluent in Shopify and Amazon Seller Central data schemas.
  • Warehousing & BI: Strong proficiency with Snowflake (SQL) and Tableau (LOD expressions, complex visualizations).
  • Transformation Tools: Competency in KNIME or dbt is preferred, but we are open to candidates experienced with Alteryx, Prep, or Python who can adapt quickly.
  • ELT Familiarity: Awareness of how ELT tools (like Hevo, Fivetran, Airbyte, Azure, etc.) function, so you can communicate effectively with our Data Engineer when pipeline adjustments are needed.

The "Lifecycle & Retention Master" Skill Set

  • You are deeply versed in the data schemas of Klaviyo and Loyalty Lion, understanding how to extract and model complex email, SMS, and rewards program data.
  • You have hands-on experience conducting complex churn analysis, cohort retention modeling, and LTV forecasting.
  • You intimately understand the nuances of lifecycle metrics and can easily analyze the true impact of deliverability, Apple's Mail Privacy Protection (MPP) on open rates, click-to-purchase rates, and SMS unsubscribe behaviors.
