Maintenance Technician (Level 1, 2, or 3) – Preventative Maintenance & General Maintenance

DoubleTree by Hilton South Bend Downtown

The DoubleTree by Hilton South Bend Downtown is currently hiring two Maintenance Technicians to join our Engineering team.

We are seeking:

  • Preventative Maintenance Technician – Focused on scheduled preventative maintenance, inspections, equipment upkeep, and ensuring the hotel remains in excellent operating condition.

  • General Maintenance Technician – Focused on responding to guest requests, work orders, and performing repairs throughout the hotel.

We are hiring for Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 Maintenance Technicians. Placement and compensation will be based on experience, technical knowledge, certifications, and demonstrated skill level.

Our nine-story hotel is located in the heart of downtown South Bend and features a full-service restaurant, Baker's Bar & Grill, Starbucks, over 15,000 square feet of meeting and banquet space, an indoor pool, fitness center, and nearly 300 guest rooms. Our Engineering team plays a critical role in delivering an exceptional guest experience by ensuring our property is safe, functional, and well maintained.

Position Summary

Our Maintenance Technicians are problem solvers who take pride in keeping the hotel operating at its best. Whether performing preventative maintenance or responding to repairs, you'll help maintain a safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment for both guests and team members.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Perform preventative maintenance on hotel equipment and building systems.

  • Respond promptly to guest service calls and maintenance work orders.

  • Troubleshoot and repair plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, painting, and general building maintenance issues.

  • Maintain guest rooms, public areas, meeting space, back-of-house, pool area, and exterior grounds.

  • Inspect equipment and identify maintenance concerns before failures occur.

  • Record completed repairs and report items requiring additional attention.

  • Monitor equipment operation and utility readings.

  • Assist with maintaining inventory of maintenance parts and supplies.

  • Follow all hotel safety policies and emergency procedures.

  • Remain accessible to the Front Desk and Engineering leadership during scheduled shifts.

  • Support special projects and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Previous maintenance, facilities, hotel, apartment, commercial building, or skilled trades experience preferred.

  • Experience in one or more of the following is a plus:

    • HVAC

    • Electrical

    • Plumbing

    • Carpentry

    • Painting

    • Mechanical systems

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
