Job description

OVERVIEW: The customer experience is very important to us - they're why we keep doing what we're doing. At Goode Company the Host is key to making that happen. You understand the fine balance of service and help provide exceptional service to our customers in a timely, courteous, efficient, and accurate manner. The Host will manage the seating charts/systems as well as relay pertinent information regarding guest requests to servers. The Restaurant Host/Hostess supervises and coordinates the activities of the dining room staff to ensure fast and courteous service to our guests. Our Host are polite and friendly to guests, and co-workers alike, and understand the importance of maintaining Goode Company's high sanitation standards. You always keep your workstation clean and sanitary, because you know it is a direct reflection on you.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide a hospitable welcome and genuine “Thank you” to all guest
  • Welcome guests with a warm greeting upon arrival and a genuine “Thank you” as they exit
  • Always acknowledge guest’s right-of-way and actively assists guests with directions or special requests
  • Open doors for guests entering or leaving the restaurant
  • Maintain clean entryway, assist with table turn-over when needed
  • Provide guests with accurate estimated waiting time
  • Accommodate special seating requests for guest whenever possible
  • Notify server/manager of any special events the guests are celebrating upon being seated
  • Once seated, offer guests a menu and inform them of their server’s name
  • Assist customers with merchandise purchases
  • Communicate with Servers, Bartenders & Management to maintain maximum efficiency of the restaurant
  • Maintain a consistent system for wait lists and monitor table turnover
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable federal and state laws and all company policies

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • One year of experience in a high-volume restaurant setting with some leadership responsibilities.
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
  • Flexible availability: open to working day shift, evening shift, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to remain on feet for a prolonged period
  • Well-groomed and neatly dressed
  • Helpful attitude and friendly demeanor
  • OpenTable experience preferred
  • Able to work in a standing and moving position for extended periods of time
  • Food Handler Certification
