Our collaborative Switchboard team keeps our hospital connected 24/7. Operators are trusted to manage high call volumes, assist patients and visitors, and support staff communication across the organization.
Fauquier Health is a 97-bed acute care hospital offering surgical services (including robotics), a 24-hour Emergency Department, extensive medical imaging capabilities, an Intensive Care Unit and much, much more. The Fauquier Health system offers patient care for a variety of specialty services including Orthopedics and Spine, a Cardiac Catheterization Lab, and robotic-assisted surgery. The fourth floor of the hospital is devoted to our Family Birthing Center and Intermediate Care Nursery.
How you'll contribute
A Switchboard Operator who excels in this role:
  • Operates the telephone switchboard and routes calls to appropriate personnel. Announces necessary codes with accuracy and implements emergency response and Rapid Response teams utilizing electronic methods.
  • Promptly reports all alarm variances to the security of facilities department as appropriate.
  • Exercises sound judgement in the process and issuance of code requests to include assessing severity, type, authenticity, etc. Announces all codes in a timely, clear, and calm manner. Obtains all necessary information from callers.

What we're looking for
Applicants should have previous experience in a customer service role and possess excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • At least 2 years' experience in a customer service role required.
  • Experience utilizing multi-line switchboard in a healthcare environment preferred.
