Job description

Have you always wanted to get your healthcare career started? Are you interested in a position that offers an opportunity to grow? Do you enjoy working "hands-on" in a team environment? Then you may be a perfect fit for a Hospitality Associate with UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital.
UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital is currently looking for casual Hospitality Associates to fill various shifts - this includes AM and PM hours 6 am through 12 am. These positions require you to work weekends and it's possible you would work holidays. Hours are subject to change based on business needs.
When hired, candidates are initially placed in a casual role and may work up to 5 shifts per week. Based on performance and business needs, there is a potential that candidates may be able to transition into full-time/part-time opportunities within UPMC.
This is a support position between the hospitality departments. You will assist in the environmental services, dietary, greeting patients, families, and visitors, as well as, the transport of patients. You will focus on patient and guest satisfaction to meet Hospital and Department standards in order to promote the quality of care.
Responsibilities:
  • EVS Associate Responsibilities: Clean all assigned areas, including patient rooms, public areas, toilets, procedure rooms, offices, and equipment, following established procedures. Remove trash from all assigned areas/replenish supplies as needed. Make beds, following established cleaning procedures in all patient discharge rooms and on-call rooms as assigned. Inspect and ensure that all assigned areas are properly cleaned and in good repair, report problems to the supervisor.
  • Destination Coordinator Responsibilities: Greet Hospital guests positively, and provide appropriate verbal assistance, guidance, and direction to visitors and patients as needed. Serve as a reference source regarding visiting hours, directions, package delivery, general admitting, and Hospital policies. Issue courtesy parking discounts and free passes when appropriate. Use the personal computer and CRT for the dissemination of patient information. Respect patient confidentiality and withholds restrictive information. Assist with parking cashier functions and validates patient parking. Responsible for following the mandatory reporting procedures for any incident or serious event that did affect or potentially could have affected the clinical care of any patient. Issue patient scooters to patients and visitors as needed.
  • Transporter Responsibilities: Transport patients and adjunct equipment via prescribed vehicles between patient units, treatment centers, and their designated areas in a safe, timely, and accurate manner. Deliver supplies, equipment, and other materials to the patient units, and other designated areas in a safe, timely, and accurate manner. Perform inspections and disinfecting procedures on transportation equipment utilized by the department. Record transportation data electronically in the Transport Tracking System and/or manually on appropriate forms and logs utilized by the department. Report the status of transportation activities and abnormal activities to the manager in charge.
  • Food Service Attendant Responsibilities: Adheres to hand hygiene and infection control procedures on a consistent basis when interacting with customers. Assembles and serves meals according to diet orders, menus, and patient/guest specific requirements. Maintains food safety and quality by applying HACCP principles throughout service. Adheres to department procedures regarding the operation of all foodservice equipment. Performs sanitation for the assigned work areas in accordance with departmental procedures and health department guidelines. Serves patient meal tray using the designated department script, to include proper patient identification. Follow all safety and sanitation regulations.

Qualifications:
  • HS Diploma/GED or one-year previous job experience required in lieu of HS Diploma/GED
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
