Job description

We are seeking a responsible and experienced Kitchen Utility Worker/Dishwasher to assist the busy kitchen team of a luxury assisted living community with various job-related tasks and other support activities as they arise. The position involves sweeping, mopping and the cleaning of equipment, such as mixers, slicers, peelers, fryers, blenders and counters. The right candidate will take great care and pride in their work and consider this entry position as a potential stepping stone toward building a career in food services.
Additional job responsibilities include:
  • Cleaning, prepping and washing dishware, silverware, glassware, pots and pans
  • Ensuring all chemical dispensers are working and cleaning supplies are adequate, being careful to use all safety equipment to meet OSHA standards
  • Sweeping and mopping floors as directed
  • Emptying and cleaning garbage from kitchen to dumpster
  • Assisting with heavy lifting
  • Daily cleaning of steam kettle, grill, range tops, brazier, stainless steel surfaces, dish racks, dish storage areas, dishwasher and dishwashing area
  • Monthly cleaning of all kitchen surfaces, including walls, ceilings, stairs, tables, table legs and appliances
  • Assisting in the dining room, removing soiled dishes during meal service and returning them to the kitchen

Full-time Schedule will include working the weekends.
The ideal candidate will have experience in a busy kitchen or food preparation area and come with:
  • Experience working in a restaurant, catering facility, hospital, hospitality, healthcare or similar food services related industry as a plus
  • Must be able to operate in a fast-paced environment
  • Must have physical ability for strenuous cleaning and lifting
  • Ability to understand the English language and follow instructions with minimal supervision
  • Proven ability to follow all rules, regulations, policies and sanitary standards established by management
