Job description

Salary:

Position Summary

The Community Relations Manager is responsible for supporting Pineapple Healthcares community presence, patient growth, outreach visibility, and external relationship development in the Lakeland region. This role serves as a field-based representative of Pineapple Healthcare and is expected to build strong relationships with community partners, businesses, nonprofit organizations, healthcare partners, faith-based organizations, and local stakeholders.

This position is responsible for executing outreach, networking, community engagement, and patient reach strategies in alignment with the Director of community relations. The Community Relations Manager is not an independent department or separate market authority; this role operates as part of the broader Community Relations team and is expected to follow the same outreach standards, approval processes, communication expectations, and culture established across all Pineapple Healthcare locations.

The Community Relations Manager may support and coordinate Community Outreach Advocates in the field, assist with outreach planning, and ensure that all local initiatives are organized, mission-aligned, compliant, and approved through the appropriate reporting structure. This role requires professionalism, strong communication skills, sound judgment, field accountability, and the ability to represent Pineapple Healthcare consistently, respectfully, and collaboratively.

Key Responsibilities

Community Relations & Partnership Development

The Community Relations Manager builds and maintains professional relationships with businesses, community organizations, nonprofits, healthcare partners, faith-based groups, local leaders, and other stakeholders that may support Pineapple Healthcares mission, visibility, and patient growth.

This includes conducting community visits, introducing Pineapple Healthcares services, identifying potential outreach opportunities, supporting referral relationships, and helping expand awareness of Pineapple Healthcares programs, including primary care, sexual health services, HIV prevention, PrEP, PEP, Doxy-PEP education, testing initiatives, and other community-centered healthcare services.

All partnership opportunities, proposed collaborations, sponsorships, major community commitments, and external initiatives must be reviewed and approved by the Director of Community Relations before being confirmed or executed.

Outreach Execution & Patient Reach

The Community Relations Manager supports the planning and execution of outreach activities designed to increase access to care, strengthen community engagement, and connect individuals to Pineapple Healthcare services.

Responsibilities include supporting community tabling events, HIV/STI testing initiatives, educational sessions, business visits, local engagement campaigns, and other approved outreach activities. The role is expected to help increase patient reach while ensuring that outreach efforts are professional, organized, culturally competent, and aligned with Pineapple Healthcares brand and values.

The Community Relations Manager must ensure that events are not scheduled, promised, confirmed, or independently modified without proper approval from the Director of Community Relations.

Alignment With Departmental Strategy

The Community Relations Manager is responsible for implementing the outreach direction, priorities, and expectations established by the Director of Community Relations. While the role requires initiative and field independence, independent decision-making must remain within approved boundaries.

The Community Relations Manager is expected to communicate regularly with the Director of Community Relations, provide timely updates, seek approval when required, and ensure that all outreach efforts remain aligned with department goals, location priorities, and organizational expectations.

This role must not bypass the direct reporting structure when requesting approvals, resources, schedule changes, event commitments, operational adjustments, or strategic decisions, unless an urgent matter requires immediate escalation under Pineapple Healthcare policy.

Field Leadership & Team Coordination

The Community Relations Manager may support the coordination of Community Outreach Advocates assigned to outreach activities in the Lakeland region. This includes helping organize daily or weekly field priorities, supporting event preparation, reinforcing expectations, assisting with logistics, and providing real-time field guidance.

This role is expected to lead by example and promote a team-first culture. The Community Relations Manager must support consistency, accountability, respectful communication, and collaboration between outreach staff, clinic teams, case management, marketing, operations, and leadership.

The position does not replace the authority of the Director of Community Relations and does not operate as a separate leadership channel outside the established reporting structure.

Communication & Internal Collaboration

The Community Relations Manager is expected to maintain clear, timely, and professional communication with the Director of Community Relations and other internal departments as appropriate.

This includes communicating event updates, partner feedback, patient access barriers, outreach results, staffing needs, risks, community trends, and operational concerns. Communication must be transparent and collaborative, with the goal of strengthening the department rather than creating silos between locations or teams.

The role is expected to help maintain the Pineapple Healthcare outreach culture across all locations.

Reporting, Metrics & Documentation

The Community Relations Manager is responsible for documenting outreach activities, business visits, partner engagement, event outcomes, patient reach efforts, referrals, testing activities, and other performance metrics as required by the Director of Community Relations.

Reports may include weekly updates, monthly outreach summaries, event recaps, partner tracking, growth activity reports, and other documentation requested by leadership.

Accurate and timely reporting is an essential function of this role.

Compliance, Safety & Professional Standards

The Community Relations Manager must follow all Pineapple Healthcare policies, HIPAA expectations, confidentiality requirements, safety procedures, event protocols, brand standards, and communication guidelines.

This includes ensuring that outreach activities are conducted professionally, respectfully, and safely. The Community Relations Manager is expected to protect patient privacy, represent Pineapple Healthcare appropriately in all community settings, and escalate concerns through the correct internal channels.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 23 years of experience in community relations, outreach, business development, healthcare engagement, nonprofit outreach, sales, marketing, or related work.
  • Experience working in healthcare, public health, HIV prevention, LGBTQ+ community services, nonprofit programs, or community-based outreach preferred.
  • Prior experience coordinating field outreach activities or supporting a small team is preferred.
  • Strong relationship-building, networking, and communication skills.
  • Ability to represent Pineapple Healthcare professionally in diverse community environments.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple outreach priorities.
  • Ability to follow established procedures, approval channels, and reporting expectations.
  • Ability to work independently in the field while remaining fully aligned with department leadership.
  • Strong judgment, professionalism, cultural competence, and emotional intelligence.
  • Valid Florida drivers license and clean driving record required.

Physical & Scheduling Requirements

  • Must be able to travel regularly throughout the Lakeland region, Pineapple Healthcare service areas, and surrounding service areas.
  • Must be able to work in field-based community settings, partner locations, events, and outreach sites.
  • Must be able to work evenings and weekends based on approved outreach events.
  • Must be able to lift approximately 2530 pounds for event setup and breakdown as needed.
  • Must be able to use a company-issued vehicle in accordance with Pineapple Healthcare policy, if assigned.

Work Environment

This is a field-based and community-facing position. The Community Relations Manager will spend significant time in the community, attending meetings, visiting partners, supporting outreach events, and representing Pineapple Healthcare externally. Occasional administrative work at the Lakeland location or other Pineapple Healthcare sites may be required.

Core Competencies

  • Relationship building
  • Professional communication
  • Field accountability
  • Patient growth mindset
  • Collaboration
  • Cultural competence
  • Organizational alignment
  • Strategic execution
  • Respect for reporting structure

Reporting Structure & Decision-Making Expectations

The Community Relations Manager reports directly to the Director of Community Relations. The Director of Community Relations is responsible for departmental strategy, approval of outreach events, partnership direction, scheduling expectations, performance standards, and overall Community Relations alignment.

The Community Relations Manager is responsible for executing approved strategies, supporting local outreach growth, managing field-level relationships, and maintaining timely communication with the Director of Community Relations.

The Community Relations Manager is expected to seek approval before committing Pineapple Healthcare to events, partnerships, sponsorships, schedule changes, resource requests, operational adjustments, or external obligations.
