Description:

The Kitchen Line Cook will be able to assist in preparing a wide variety of foods while working quickly and in an organized manner. The kitchen line cook will also be friendly and eager to work as part of a team and possess previous experience working in a fast-paced restaurant environment.

Requirements:

Knowledge of safety procedures, including safe temperatures at which ingredients must be kept.

Meet all guidelines from OSHA and San Antonio Metropolitan Health District.

Comprehension and organization to follow direct orders and recipes.

Calm demeanor to work in a high-stress, fast-paced environment.

Line cooks must possess basic cooking skills. They must also understand how to use a variety of food service equipment,

including knives, pots and pans, ovens and grills, food processors and slicers.

Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination to handle tools, such as knife techniques for chopping, slicking, cutting, and dicing. Commitment to quality food service knowledge, measuring up to the expectations of management and customers alike.

Maintain food quality by following recipes, portion control and quantities of preparation to minimize waste, and cost with kitchen supervisors and kitchen staff alongside with the Kitchen Manager.

Carry out the opening and/or closing duties of the restaurant’s kitchen.

Restocks all items as needed throughout shift.

Assists with the cleaning, sanitation, and organization of kitchen stations, walk-in coolers, and all storage areas.

Coordinating daily with the kitchen supervisor for operations necessities.

Accomplishes company goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests.

Communicating and enforcing sanitary practices for food handling, general cleanliness, and maintenance of kitchen alongside kitchen supervisors with the direction of the Kitchen Manager.

Maintain professional restaurant image, including proper uniforms, and appearance standards.

Performs additional responsibilities, although not detailed, as requested by the Kitchen Manager and Kitchen Supervisor at any time.


Qualifications and Skills:

Excellent communications skills. Bilingual – English and Spanish

Understanding and knowledge of safety, sanitation, and food handling procedures.

Previous prep or line cook experience.

Ability to take direction, work in a team environment, work calmly and effectively under pressure.

Must have problem solving abilities, be self-motivated, and organized.

This position will spend 100% of the time standing.

Occasional environmental exposures to cold, heat, and water.

The individual must be able to transport up to 50 pounds regularly.

Completes job responsibilities and performance objectives in a timely and effective manner and in accordance with Casa Rio policies and procedures.

Provide or obtain Texas Food Handlers Certification within 30 days of hire.
