Job description

Our Deloitte Strategy & Transactions team helps guide clients through their most critical moments and transformational initiatives. From strategy to execution, this team delivers integrated, end-to-end support and advisory services covering valuation modeling, cost optimization, restructuring, government operations modernization, business design and transformation, infrastructure and real estate, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), and sustainability. Work alongside clients every step of the way, helping them navigate new challenges, avoid financial pitfalls, and provide practical solutions at every stage of their journey-before, during, and after any major transformational projects or transactions.

Work you'll do

Help clients in the higher education sector (primarily universities and public university systems) understand how to assess, prioritize, and plan to implement strategies and tactics in an increasingly complex and challenged operating environment. The role combines rigorous research skills, strong quantitative analysis, clear business case development and professional writing, effective management of diverse sets of stakeholders, and a sharp point of view on how organizations work - applied to a moment when the structure of work, the shape of the workforce, and the operating models of the entire sector are being rewritten.

Successful candidates bring intellectual curiosity, structured thinking, strong communication skills, and the ability to translate analysis on fast-moving competitive environments and technology trends into recommendations on which their clients can act. They are experienced in their careers and demonstrate the judgement, communication skills, and business awareness needed to support high-profile strategy engagements.

As a Manager, Strategy, Growth, and Transformation on the Strategy, Growth, and Transformation team, you will be responsible for...
  • Leading workstreams across strategy, growth, operating model, and transformation engagements from problem definition through implementation planning
  • Managing day-to-day engagement activities, project plans, risks, deliverables, and stakeholder communications across cross-functional teams
  • Facilitating workshops and meetings with client stakeholders to align on priorities, decisions, and next steps
  • Coaching junior practitioners, reviewing work product, and maintaining quality across deliverables

The team
Deloitte's Government & Public Services (GPS) practice - our people, ideas, technology and outcomes - is designed for impact. Serving federal, state, & local government clients as well as public higher education institutions, our team of professionals brings fresh perspective to help clients anticipate disruption, reimagine the possible, and fulfill their mission promise.

Our Strategy offering architects bold strategies to achieve business and mission goals, enabling growth, competitive advantage, technology modernization, and continuous digital and AI transformation.

Qualifications
Required:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in higher education setting, either in the higher education consulting industry or in strategic, operational, and/or managerial roles as an employee of a higher education institution or institutions
  • 3+ years of experience leading project teams or workstreams
  • Ability to travel 50%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.

Preferred:

  •  Demonstrated ability to manage multiple workstreams, hit deadlines, and deliver client-ready work with limited supervision.
  •  Proficiency with standard analytical and productivity tools (Excel, PowerPoint); hands-on experience with AI tools, prompting, or data analysis tools is strongly preferred.
  • Comfort working in ambiguous problem spaces and structuring open-ended questions into analyzable components.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate analysis into defensible, realistic, and actionable recommendations, both strategic and operational, to improve our clients' performance.

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $110,700-$218,300.

You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
