ABOUT xAI

xAI's mission is to create AI systems that can accurately understand the universe and aid humanity in its pursuit of knowledge. Our team is small, highly motivated, and focused on engineering excellence. This organization is for individuals who appreciate challenging themselves and thrive on curiosity. We operate with a flat organizational structure. All employees are expected to be hands-on and to contribute directly to the company's mission. Leadership is given to those who show initiative and consistently deliver excellence. Work ethic and strong prioritization skills are important. All employees are expected to have strong communication skills. They should be able to concisely and accurately share knowledge with their teammates.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

We are seeking a highly experienced Manager of Logistics to lead all inbound and outbound logistics operations supporting xAI's data center construction, expansion, and ongoing operations. In this critical role, you will own the end-to-end logistics strategy for high-value, time-sensitive materials and equipment (including servers, networking gear, power systems, cooling infrastructure, and specialized data center components) across multiple sites. You will ensure seamless, cost-efficient, and reliable supply chain execution while minimizing downtime and risk in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. This position combines strategic leadership of logistics processes with hands-on operational oversight to support xAI's aggressive build and deployment timelines.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develop, implement, and continuously optimize logistics strategies, policies, and execution plans for data center materials and equipment
  • Lead and manage a team responsible for inbound freight, warehousing, last-mile delivery, customs clearance (where applicable), and reverse logistics
  • Partner closely with data center construction, procurement, engineering, and operations teams to align logistics plans with project schedules and deployment milestones
  • Oversee carrier selection, contract negotiation, performance management, and cost optimization for all transportation modes (truckload, LTL, ocean, air, and specialized heavy-haul)
  • Implement robust tracking, visibility, and inventory management systems to ensure real-time status of critical shipments and prevent delays
  • Identify and mitigate logistics risks, including supply chain disruptions, capacity constraints, and regulatory compliance issues
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce total landed cost, improve on-time delivery, and increase supply chain resilience
  • Establish KPIs and reporting dashboards to measure logistics performance, cost efficiency, and service levels
  • Ensure all logistics activities comply with safety, security, and environmental standards, especially for sensitive high-tech equipment
  • Provide hands-on leadership during peak build phases and urgent deployment needs
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in logistics and supply chain management, with at least 2 years in a leadership role
  • Strong background supporting large-scale data center, semiconductor, or other hyperscale technology construction/operations environments
  • Proven expertise managing complex, high-volume inbound logistics for critical infrastructure and high-value technology equipment
  • Deep knowledge of transportation management, warehousing, inventory visibility tools, and global trade compliance
  • Demonstrated success leading and developing high-performing logistics teams in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills with the ability to thrive under tight deadlines
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Strong proficiency with logistics and supply chain software (TMS, WMS, ERP systems)
  • Exceptional communication and cross-functional collaboration skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Willingness to be primarily onsite at key facilities (e.g., Memphis region) with on-call responsibilities and travel to other sites as needed
