JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: School Librarian
LOCATION: School Campus as Assigned
RESPONSIBLE TO: School Principal
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide customer service for library users
  • Provide suggestions to library users about new books to try
  • Help library users check out books
  • Keep a budget to repair, replace or get new reading materials
  • Order new inventory from book supply companies
  • Research new reading trends and popular genres to add to the library
  • Develop fun and educational programs for students
  • Catalog new inventory and update the database accordingly
  • Teach students how to use the library database and other research tools like an encyclopedia, dictionary, or thesaurus
  • Educate students on how to use a library effectively and help instill a love for reading in them.
  • Keep records of circulation and materials
  • Evaluate materials to determine outdated or unused items to be discarded
  • Assemble and arrange display materials
  • Compile lists of overdue materials, and notify borrowers that their materials are overdue
  • Develop library policies and procedures
  • Meet and instruct assigned classes
  • Performs other duties as requested or assigned
  • Attend and participate in faculty meetings
  • Attend local PTO/PTA meetings
  • Will exemplify high moral character

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree
Master's degree
Valid 438/440 Media Librarian (K-12) Endorsement
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with job description and duties
EMPLOYMENT: 187-day contract; salary determined by State Adequate Education Program
