Description
The Controller will oversee all aspects of financial reporting, including payroll and Accounts Payable. You will utilize MultiView as the primary financial system while working closely with the CFO to ensure accurate financial reporting, compliance, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Reporting & Accounting: Prepare timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Maintain general ledger, perform account reconciliations, and oversee month-end and year-end close processes.
  • MultiView Expertise: Serve as the primary finance lead for MultiView and Paylocity, including system optimization, report development, data integrity, and training of team members on relevant modules.
  • Internal Controls & Compliance: Ensure strong internal controls, support external audits, and maintain compliance with GAAP, GASB, FASB, HFMA guidelines, Medicare Cost Report requirements, and Critical Access Hospital-specific regulations.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist the CFO with annual operating and capital budgets, variance analysis, and financial forecasting.
  • Team Leadership: Work within and help lead a small finance team. Provide mentorship, cross-train staff, and foster a collaborative environment.
  • Cost Reporting & Analysis: Support Medicare Cost Report preparation and other regulatory filings. Perform financial analysis to support decision-making for rural healthcare challenges (e.g., low-volume adjustments, swing bed utilization).
  • Additional Duties: Manage fixed assets, payroll accounting support as needed, cash management, and special projects assigned by the CFO.

Requirements
Qualifications & Requirements
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field required. CPA or HFMA certification strongly preferred.

Experience:
  • Minimum 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in healthcare (hospital setting preferred).
  • Prior experience in a Critical Access Hospital or rural healthcare environment is a significant plus.
  • Experience managing hospital audits or preparing hospital cost reports for a Public Accounting firm can be substituted for direct hospital experience.

Technical Skills:
  • Strong working knowledge of MultiView is highly preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.
  • Experience with general ledger and accounting systems.
