Job description

Purpose:
Do you have experience with billing within the revenue cycle? Do you enjoy training other employees? UPMC is hiring a full-time Revenue Cycle, Regional Implementation, Optimization, and Training Specialist. This position would typically work Monday through Friday during daylight hours, however occasional evenings and weekends may be required as needed. The position is primarily eligible to work from home, however travel to UPMC sites would be required as needed. On-site work would typically be at sites in Central PA, however occasional travel to UPMC sites in other regions may be requested.

Under the guidance of Revenue Cycle Leadership, the Regional IOT (Implementation, Optimization & Training) Specialist is responsible for assessing, supporting, coaching and training for revenue cycle Departments and Users, primarily for their defined geographical area of hospitals/physician sites. The Regional IOT Specialist is responsible for creating and maintaining various training materials & modules within the guidelines and standard approach as determined by the central Pittsburgh group. They utilize best practices on all revenue cycle systems and processes in support of standard protocols in a consumer-centric culture, aligning UPMC core values. The Regional IOT Specialists must work closely with all UPMC business units and management to maintain the highest levels of quality and service for patient and physician satisfaction and revenue maximization in a manner that complies with standards established by UPMC and outside regulatory and accreditation agencies. They also support implementations, coach and mentor users, and support/lead optimization projects related to revenue cycle operations for their service area. They utilize the methods, standard resources, and software created and managed within the Department.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for assessing and responding to Department requests related to training matters.
  • Responsible for implementing and optimizing a consumer-centric revenue cycle workflow, standardization and simplification process for practices not meeting revenue cycle metrics by way of effective and timely learning modules in a variety of delivery methods.
  • Responsible for effective and thorough user education based on established standard protocols.
  • Responsible for thorough operational assessments, documentation and operational support.
  • Responsible for fostering partnerships with all Department Managers, Physician and Hospital Key Division and Executive Administrators across the System to provide a consistent and effective training tracks including a focus on computer-based learning, implementation support as well as classroom learning.
  • Responsible for the monitoring of consistent benchmarks, thresholds and departmental level metrics that are defined, measurable, tracked and trended as well as a user support methodology related to training.
  • Perform duties and job responsibilities in a manner which promotes the core values of UPMC (Quality and Safety; Dignity and Respect; Caring and Listening; Excellence and Innovation; Responsibility and Integrity) in all consumer and UPMC interactions
  • Bachelor's degree in education, business, training & development or related field.

    2 years' experience working as an educator or training role or 4 years of progressive experience of revenue cycle within a professional billing or health care environment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.

  • Staff Management experience preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge effective presentation technique preferred.
  • Experience with adult learning preferred.
  • Previous soft skills training preferred.
  • Must demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral, and the ability to effectively problem solve.
  • This individual must be highly agile, demonstrate critical thinking skills and able to function in a high-pressure environment with very little direct supervision.
  • Project management experience required.
