What is infusion revenue cycle?

Infusion revenue cycle refers to the process by which healthcare providers manage billing, coding, reimbursement, and financial workflows specifically related to infusion therapy services. This cycle includes verifying insurance, obtaining prior authorizations, accurate charge capture, coding for infusion procedures, submitting claims, and handling denials or payment delays. Effective management of the infusion revenue cycle is crucial to ensure providers are properly reimbursed for costly medications and services while maintaining regulatory compliance. It also helps to minimize financial losses and improve overall operational efficiency in infusion centers or departments.

How does an infusion revenue cycle professional typically collaborate with clinical and billing teams to ensure accurate reimbursement?

Infusion Revenue Cycle professionals play a crucial role in bridging the gap between clinical staff and billing or coding teams. They work closely with nurses and physicians to ensure that documentation accurately reflects the services provided, which is essential for correct coding and billing. Additionally, they frequently communicate with billing teams to resolve claim discrepancies and verify that all procedures meet payer requirements. This collaborative approach helps minimize denials and ensures timely reimbursement for infusion services.
