Laboratory Supervisor- Laboratory Department

Work location: Texas Health Kaufman- 850 Ed Hall Drive, Kaufman 75142
Work hours: Full Time, 40 hours a week Monday through Friday 8:30am - 5:00pm

Here's What You Need
  • Bachelor's Degree Chemical, Biological, or Clinical Science is required Or
  • Bachelor's Degree Must have 24 semester hours of science courses with 6 semester hours of chemistry, 6 semester hours of biology, and 12 semester hours of chemistry, biology, or medical laboratory technology in any combination
  • Previous experience with CAP standards, including participation in CAP inspections and maintaining ongoing CAP readiness is a plus
  • Experience conducting competency assessments is a plus
  • 5 Years under the direction of an MT or Pathologist is required and
    2 Years leadership experience is preferred
  • MT(ASCP) - Medical Technologist Upon Hire is required Or
  • CT(ASCP) - Cytotechnologist Upon Hire is required Or
  • HTL(ASCP) - Histotechnologist Upon Hire is required Or
  • MLS(ASCP) - Medical Lab Scientist Upon Hire is required Or
  • SCT(ASCP) - Specialist in Cytotechnology Upon Hire is required Or
  • Other equivalent of one of the above including AMT, AAB, HHS, NCA, HEW, CLS-CA, FL, NY state license, Phillipine Board Upon Hire is required Or
  • HT(ASCP) - Histotechnician if supervising Histology within Anatomical Pathology Upon Hire is required
  • Strong, positive interpersonal skills. Ability to read, write, and speak English clearly. Problem-solving ability, time management skills, and possesses organizational skills to function successfully in a fast paced work environment.

What You Will Do
  • Oversees work schedules and personnel assignments for the department and Delegates employee responsibilities as needed.
  • Regularly makes constructive suggestions for departmental improvement and shows willingness to help supervisor implement changes
  • Assumes and performs complex laboratory procedures when needed
  • Reviews reagent quality control that is reported by the technologists and instrument maintenance that is performed by the technologists
  • Participates in orientation and training of students, volunteers, new employees and observers
