Job Summary and Responsibilities
As our Advanced Heart Failure Cardiologist, you will join the nationally recognized CHI Health Heart Institute and Creighton University School of Medicine in Omaha, Nebraska. You will become part of a highly collaborative cardiovascular team dedicated to advancing clinical excellence, innovation, research, and medical education while providing exceptional care to patients with advanced heart failure and complex cardiovascular disease. You will also contribute to the development and expansion of a destination LVAD program.
Every day you will provide comprehensive care for patients with advanced heart failure in both inpatient and outpatient settings, collaborate with multidisciplinary cardiovascular specialists, and play a pivotal role in the continued growth and development of the Advanced Heart Failure Program, including the expansion of a destination LVAD program.
To be successful in this role, you will be a board-certified or board-eligible Advanced Heart Failure Cardiologist with strong clinical expertise, a passion for innovation in heart failure management, and a commitment to academic medicine. You will also demonstrate excellent communication skills, a collaborative approach to patient care, and the ability to thrive within a dynamic academic and research-focused environment.
- Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with advanced heart failure and complex cardiovascular disease
- Provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient heart failure care through a multidisciplinary, patient-centered approach
- Participate in the ongoing growth and development of the Advanced Heart Failure Program
- Collaborate closely with cardiac surgeons, interventional cardiologists, electrophysiologists, general cardiologists, advanced practice providers, and multidisciplinary cardiovascular teams
- Recognized as a TAVR, TEER, and Atrial Fibrillation Center of Excellence
- Provide consultative services for patients with advanced heart failure and cardiomyopathy
- Participate in the management of patients in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit and inpatient cardiovascular services
- Utilize innovative technologies and evidence-based treatment approaches to optimize patient outcomes
- Participate in a high-quality Heart Failure Clinic dedicated to comprehensive longitudinal patient care
- Collaborate with CommonSpirit Health service line partners on clinical research initiatives, quality improvement projects, and best practice sharing
- Participate in national and international cardiovascular research trials and scholarly activities
- Teach and mentor fellows, residents, and medical students through Creighton University School of Medicine
- Conduct clinical research in collaboration with faculty across CommonSpirit Health and Creighton University
- Contribute to a culture of academic excellence, innovation, and patient-centered cardiovascular care

Job Requirements
Required
- American Board Certified or Board Eligible in Cardiovascular Disease
- American Board Certified or Board Eligible in Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant
- Completion of an accredited Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship Program
- Completion of an accredited Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology Fellowship Program
- Cardiology, or board eligible upon completion of fellowship
- Valid and unrestricted medical license or eligibility for medical licensure in the State of Nebraska
Preferred
- Interest in academic medicine, research and medical education
